Sweet 16 Party Food Ideas

A sweet sixteen is a party to celebrate a young lady's 16th birthday. The party can be a huge affair with hundreds of guests and a live band. The party can also be a small and intimate celebration of a young lady's passage into the beginnings of adulthood. Food prepared for a sweet sixteen party should fit with the overall theme of the party. Consider these different approaches as you plan for the festivity. Does this Spark an idea?

A Party For Grown Ups

Make it formal. A sweet sixteen is likely to be a young woman's first grown up dinner party. Treat the occasion as an opportunity to prepare her to understand the art of fine dining. Give guests an amuse bouche. French for "amuse the mouth," an amuse bouche is meant to be a little burst of flavor. Consider a small bite of composed salad or shot glass of soup. After that, proceed to the appetizer course. Serve guests a few ounces of foie gras, a half portion of pasta or mushrooms stuffed with panko bread crumbs. Main courses should be equally elegant. Offer guests a choice of a roasted meat such as lamb and a roasted fish such as monkfish. Accompany each with a matched dish of in-season vegetables such as asparagus or baby squash. Finish the meal with a complicated dessert such as a chocolate soufflé or tarte tatin.

Go Sweet

Celebrate the sweet in sweet sixteen. Add a touch of something ambrosial to each course. Start with a soup made from sweet potatoes or a salad topped with candied walnuts. Serve a main course with a sweetened sauce. Brush honey over grilled chicken. Certain meats such as duck work well when paired with stewed fruit. Serve a sugar glazed ham. End the meal with a sugary treat. Serve pecan pie, chocolate cake or peppermint ice cream.

Teenaged Tastes

Create a menu centered around the interests of 16-year-old girls. Many of the guests will share the same age as the birthday girl. Ask her what she and her friends like. If a certain movie star is popular, use food items that allude to her latest movie. Serve a cake with the image of the movie star on top. If certain colors are popular, consider a dinner composed of dishes with ingredients in that color. Serve salad with red radicchio leaves. Prepare steak so that it is medium rare and pink in the center. End with a strawberry tart or brownie with raspberry sauce.

Luau Decoration Craft

Coconut drinks and coconut bras are both popular luau decorations.

A luau, in essence, is a giant Hawaiian beach party for those who do not live in Hawaii. Use a luau theme for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries or even Halloween. The only downside to a luau is turning the venue into a beach. A luau requires many decorations, for the guests to feel as if they are basking in the sun of Hawaii. While many party stores sell luau decorations, the cost adds up. If the luau is low-budget, make your own party decorations by hand to save money. Does this Spark an idea?

Leis

In Hawaiian culture, only people of importance wear leis, but now everyone at the luau can wear them. Make leis by stringing silk plumeria or hibiscus flowers on string. For the men, string kukui nuts. Tie a knot at the end of some string and thread it through a needle. Pull the needle through the center of a flower and push it to the knot. Continue stringing flowers until the string is full, then tie the two ends together. Make leis for around the neck, ankles and wrists. For ankle and wrist leis, use a stretchy string for slipping the lei on and off with ease. If the silk flowers and nuts are hard to come by where you live, use any bright-colored flowers from a craft store. For the VIPs at the luau, make leis out of real flowers, or use larger silk flowers to make them stand out in the crowd. Make real flower leis the day before, or the same day as the luau, so the flowers are fresh for the party.

Raffia

Raffia, a type of palm tree, comes naturally from Africa, not Hawaii, but dried raffia leaves are readily available at craft stores. Use it to make luau decorations. Cut long strips of plastic from a garbage bag, and glue the raffia so it dangles down from the plastic strips. Use the strips of glued raffia round the edge of tables. Glue raffia to the top of a beach umbrella so the entire top is covered. Wrap Christmas lights around the inside of the umbrella. Glue from the top of the umbrella to the bottom, so a little bit of the raffia dangles from the edge. Use the raffia to make grass skirts for the kids, or any guests who want to wear them. Cut strips of the raffia and string them on stretchy string. A cheaper way to make these decorations is to use green garbage bags. Cut strips out of the bags and use them to make table garlands, umbrellas and skirts.

Beach Towels

Instead of using paper tablecloths for the luau, make your own decorative ones using beach towels. Sew bright, colorful beach towels end-to-end to cover long tables. Turn the beach towels upside down and line up the ends. Sew the ends together by hand or with a sewing machine. Flip the towels over so the seam is not visible from the front. Wrap one end of a beach towel around a bamboo pole and glue the towel to the pole. Now you have beach towel flags to decorate doorways or parking entrances for the party.

Centerpieces

A luau is held at a beach, but it is not always possible to have the party at a beach location. Bring the beach to the party, instead. Partially fill glass bowls or vases with colorful sand. On top of the sand, place seashells, starfish or pretty rocks. Stick palm leaves deep inside the sand so they stick up outside the bowl or vase. Place a centerpiece at each table, but give the main guest table a bigger centerpiece. Give the guest of honor the centerpiece to take home after the party. Give the smaller ones away, or use them as decorations in the home.

Overcrowding On Beaches

Crowded beaches dissuade visitors from wanting to attend.

Overcrowded beaches are a reality for most people who live near beaches in thriving cities such Los Angeles and San Diego. Overcrowding at beaches can result in decreased revenues for vendors and the city that owns the beach. Overcrowded beaches cost of more to maintain and repair, and they diminish the beach experience for locals and tourists in the long-term. While beaches become crowded during the tourist season, they are normally open all year long and depend on the patronage of locals to keep them going. There is also a safety hazard when there are too many people to monitor at the beach.

Beach Maintenance

Overcrowding on beaches may lead to cities to increasing the length of the beach in a bid to accommodate visitors during tourist and summer seasons, a costly task just to satisfy visitors for a few months out of a year. A survey produced by San Francisco University stated that 29 percent of people who reside permanently in the area are less likely to go to beaches such as the Carlsbad State Beach due to overcrowding that occurs during the on-season.

Available Resources

Overcrowding has contributed to many other concerns for cities as well. Available parking, adequate spacing on beaches for families, available restrooms are contributing factors to decreased attendance at beaches. To pay for the costs of managing and maintaining beaches during the on-season, cities sometimes impose restrictions at beaches that don't allow visitors to bring pets. Cities may also impose pay-parking in order to help make up the costs of maintaining beaches. The cost to attend an overcrowded beach is a turn-off to those who want to relax and enjoy an inexpensive day out.

Loss in Revenue

Decreased attendance at beaches can result in a loss of hundreds of millions of dollars for the cities that own these beaches. The revenue can come from all sorts, mainly from vendors who pay to set up food and services for beach-goers. Sometimes, the city sets up its own resources and services, and may charge a fee to enter the beach. The city may have pay toilets or other amenities that are charged for. City beaches, such as those in California, are expecting decreased attendance in the next few years.

Safety Hazard

A crowded beach can also pose more safety hazards. If a beach becomes too crowded, cities are often forced to close beaches, which results in a loss of revenue. Lifeguards find it difficult to ensure the safety of beach goers when the beach has exceeded recommended capacity.

Themes For Parties For Adults

Choosing the right theme can lead to a successful party.

When planning a party, choosing a theme will set the tone for the night. It will determine the decorations, along with the entertainment and possibly how the guests will dress. While planning a theme party for children can be easy, planning one for adults may take a little more time. However, there are many themes to choose from that adults can enjoy. Does this Spark an idea?

Slumber Party

Throwing a slumber party can bring the host and her guests memories of their youth. It can also provide hours of bonding time between friends and a chance for new people to get to know one another. An adult slumber party can be the theme for a bachelorette party, a going away party or just a night with friends. Guests can participate in games such as Truth or Dare and classic board games. Additional entertainment options can include a movie marathon, karaoke or group cooking. The host can provide pizza, chips and snacks, along with drinks, to make the party feel more adult. The next morning, everyone can get together for breakfast or brunch before going their separate ways.

Murder Mystery Party

For a host with friends who enjoy a little mystery and competition, hosting a murder mystery party can provide a balance of both. The host can purchase a script that will include a case to solve along with clues and the roles that each guest will play as a character. Guests can work together to compare clues that they have picked up during the reading of the script. In addition to murder mysteries, hosts can choose from different types of crimes for the guests to solve such as a kidnapping or theft case. The host can provide a full dinner or appetizers and drinks, along with a prize such as a gift certificate for the guest who solves the case.

Hippie Party

Party hosts who are looking for a memorable and fun evening may consider throwing a Hippie Party using decorations and themes from the 1960s. Guests can come dressed in their favorite retro attire including clothes that have been tie-dyed, bell bottom pants, long hair wigs and big sunglasses. The host can decorate the venue with peace symbols, beads and lava lamps to set the tone. For entertainment, the host can play music from the decade complete with a dance contest to allow guests to show off their best hippie moves. The food can be simple finger foods and drinks made from recipes that were popular during the 1960s.

Quick Bridal Shower Ideas

So the time has come for one of your best buddies and partners-in-crime to tie the knot. But for whatever reason (a short engagement, unforeseen events or just pure procrastination) it is only days before the bridal shower and you haven't even begun to pick out the food, figure out the music or plan the event. But never fear, there is a lot that can be done in few days to salvage the shower and ensure that you, the bride-to-be, your friends and family will have a time to remember. Does this Spark an idea?

Guests

Though you may have staved off planning the event until the last minute, don't panic. You are not the first, nor are the last bridesmaid to ever have a shower sneak up on you. When planning a bridal shower last minute it's crucial that you try to set two key components in stone as quickly as possible: the guest list and the location. So start calling up friends, family and wedding party members. While a last minute bridal shower may not be on everyone's to-do list, calling, e-mailing, tweeting or texting as many people as possible, as soon as possible, is the secret to ensuring that there are people there to celebrate the impending wedding. Also keep in mind that events during the evening or at night might be better for guests to attend last minute because it takes into consideration work schedules and other responsibilities.

Location

Next up, the location. Last minute planning of a bridal shower certainly does not lend itself to being all that flexible when it comes to a location, but there are a few solutions that can quell any fears about finding the backdrop for a shower. Enlist the help of guests or friends who might have a spacious home that they'd be willing to lend out. Apartment building community rooms and other spaces can sometimes be arranged for use last minute as well.

Decorations and Food

You've got some guests and a space to throw the shower in, now it's time to decorate and arrange for food. While thinking of a creative idea last minute may be a bit challenging, there are subtle themes that can be used in order to give some continuity to the event and give guests an idea about what sorts of gifts to purchase. A classy and sophisticated themed party, possibly a wine party, can be a good choice. Guests can pick up liquor and other spirits at a local store and don't have to worry about spending hours hunting for the perfect gift. Doing a more general theme based on what the couple likes (whether it is sports, nightlife or something else) can also be a good way of tracking down simple decorations and giving guests an idea of what gifts to get. Lastly, getting food together does not have to be the horribly time-consuming task that you're imagining it to be. Enlisting the help of a local deli can be the perfect solution to the bridal shower food predicament. Some delis, offering an array of sandwiches and spreads, can have turnaround for a large order in 24 to 48 hours.

Sports Club Promotion Ideas

Promotions are a great way of acquiring new members and guests to your sports club.

Marketing is essential for building any business. From flyers to health fairs, marketing ideas are endless. Utilizing fun and rewarding promotions for your sports club will help bring in new members and guests.

Fitness Fair

Have a fitness fair for the public and potential members. This is similar to an "open house" for guests to see what your sports club is all about. Hand out complimentary guest passes, offer free sports beverages or smoothies and free advice from personal trainers. Purchase newspaper or radio ads to promote the fitness fair or contact fitness brands (i.e., equipment, beverages) that you carry or promote and inquire about sponsorships. Offer door prizes for the first 50 guests to attract people to come to your event.

Giveaways

Giveaways are a great way to let potential guests and members try out your sports club. Create a "Grand Prize" membership package to give away (for example, "A complimentary one-year membership with full access to the club plus one week of personal training.") Giveaways can also be smaller--perhaps a three-month membership or even a one-week pass. This would be a great idea for holidays such as Christmas, Mother's/Father's Day or as a "New Year's" push (since most resolutions include being healthy for the New Year).

Charity Benefit

Getting involved with non-profit organizations in your community to help with charities is a great way to promote the sports club. Choose an organization that might need an extra push or one that you personally support. Contact the organization with a proposal and information on your idea. Offer fun fitness games for the entire family, healthy snacks and beverages and a raffle for donations.

The Famous Couples Bridal Shower Game

One of the best games to play at a bridal shower is the famous couples game. It is really easy to do, everyone loves it, and it makes for great conversation. It is also a great game for people of all ages, since you can choose famous couples of all genres and generations.

The Object of the Game

The goal is to match the celebrity with their partner, husband or wife. You can set this up a number of different ways. The first way is to list one half of the couple and have your guests fill in the blank. Or, you can make it multiple choice and have them choose between a, b or c. If you really don't like to type, give them a piece of paper and a pen and have them list as many celebrity couples they can think of.

Set the Rules

You do have to set some rules, or your guests may have a few objections to some of the couples listed. Most of the time, the famous couples listed are either married, were married or have been in a notable committed partnership for a long time. There may also be a gray area since a lot of famous couples have been married more than once, so you need to decide if you can list someone multiple times, such as Tom Cruise who was married to Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman and now Katie Holmes.

Tie Breakers

If there is a tie, a great way to break it is by having a few backup questions about some of the famous couples. For example; you can ask how many kids a couple has had, or how many times have they each been married. You can also break a tie by asking them when or where the famous couple got married.

Creative Famous Couples

Don't forget there are a lot of famous couples who aren't actually "real," meaning they can be a cartoon character, or famous characters from movies. Take Mickey and Minnie, or Beauty and the Beast. You could even use Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler. These are some great couples to include in the game, and it will throw your guests for a loop. Or even Fred and Ginger would be a great couple to list.

Feel the Love

Getting married is a positive happy time, try to stick with famous couples who represent love and marriage. Using Beavis and Butt-head would probably not be that romantic. Here are examples of some great famous couples to include in your game; Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, Shrek and Fiona, Jessica and Roger Rabbit, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith.

The Prize

Stick with the famous couple theme when you present the winner of the game with her prize. Give a DVD of a movie or a book that represents a great love story. Or keep it simple with a gift card to the movies or a video store.

Places To Have A High School Graduation Party

Use pretty table linens for a more formal graduation party.

High school graduation parties celebrate the graduate's accomplishments and the next steps he is about to take. Graduation parties can be fancy or casual, and can include many guests or just close family and friends. There are a variety of possible venues to host a high school graduation party, and the one that's right for you will depend upon the amount of people you plan to invite, among other factors.

Backyard

Barbecue is common backyard graduation party fare.

Backyards are a traditional setting for graduation parties. Many students will soon be moving into a dorm or apartment, and enjoy having the final celebration of their high school years at home. Outdoor celebrations can be perfect for high school graduation parties, as they often occur in late spring or early summer. Backyards can be a good setting for small parties or larger affairs.

Restaurant

Some graduates prefer an intimate dinner party with close family and friends to a larger affair.

If you are planning a small party with close family and friends, you might want to consider a dinner party in a restaurant. Think of the type of dinner you'd like to host before choosing a restaurant. If you'd like some privacy for your event, look for restaurants with private rooms available for rent.

Banquet Hall

A banquet hall is one of the more formal graduation party settings. In addition to hosting dinner, look for a facility with other activities for the graduate and your guests to enjoy (swimming pool, game room, etc.). Or, hire a band or disc jockey to get your guests dancing and celebrating.

Park

Local parks may offer pavilions for rent. Parks can be great settings for graduation parties as they often offer other activities, such as sports and swimming, for your guests to enjoy.

Pajama Party Ideas For Kids

After pajama party games, have the children watch their favorite cartoon videos.

Pajama party ideas for kids can suit the fluctuating energy levels of children. Start with high-energy sleeping bag races, and then switch to an arts-and-crafts activity that occupies children in a cerebral way. Plan easily prepared food, such as pizza or popcorn, and keep a backup supply of hairbrushes and toothbrushes on hand. If it's a pajama party for teens, act as the chaperone. Check in on them by serving snack food.

Activities

Hand out clean pillow cases or large white t-shirts, which can be turned into pajamas, and felt-tipped fabric markers. Have the kids place a piece of cardboard into their pillow cases so the ink doesn't leak through to the other side. Direct the children to decorate their pillow cases with a personal slogan or drawing, and then pass their pillow case around for their friends to autograph. Hand out card stock and scissors to the kids. Have them trace circles from the rims of large glasses, and cut them out to make door hangers. Hand out shape and letter stickers, glue and glitter, so the kids can embellish their hangers.

Games

Take advantage of sleeping bags to play assorted games. Ask a child to leave the room and wait outside for a count of 10. Direct the other children to switch sleeping bags and zip themselves up, so that they're completely hidden inside the bags. Have the child come back and try to guess who is inside which bag by feeling the bag. Conduct sleeping bag relay races. Divide the children into two teams and line them up at the starting line with their sleeping bags. Ask them to get inside their bags but keep the tops of their bags open. Direct them to hop the length of the room inside their bags, touch the wall and return to tag their next teammate in the race.

Food

Use spaghetti sauce and English muffins or bagels and instruct the children to make their own mini-pizzas. Put different toppings, such as mushrooms, green peppers, grated Mozzarella cheese, pepperoni slices, sausage bits and olives, in different bowls. Use the same scheme to have the children create their own ice cream sundaes. Put out cartons of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry-flavored ice cream. Place various toppings, such as butterscotch syrup, chocolate sauce, cherries, fruit, nuts and candy bits, in bowls. Dot the table with cans of whipped cream that the kids can use to top off their sundaes.

Decorations

Roll out a long, blank banner. Hand out arts-and-crafts supplies, including markers, crayons and pastels. Hand out magazines and scissors. Have the children create their own personalized party banner. Take photos with a Polaroid or digital camera so you can instantly print out pictures of the children. Encourage them to paste their pictures on the banner. Hand out different-colored, glow-in-the-dark paper, thread and hangers. Ask the children to cut out stars, planets and comets. Show them thread the space-themed shapes around a hanger to create a collage. Hang their collages from the ceiling, and then turn the lights out so they can see their artwork glow.

What To Pack For A Jamaican Vacation

A Jamaican vacation can be a lot of fun for everyone, but not if you don't pack properly. Jamaica is completely surrounded by water, and as such there are certain things that one should pack. For those that want to have the time of their life in paradise, thoughtful, careful packing is a must.

Prepare for the Weather

Travelers can rest assured that they will be able to spend a great deal of their Jamaican vacation outside, but it is important to note that it rains often, especially in May and June and from October through December. Outside of the rain, the average temperature is about 80 degrees with high humidity. For this reason it is important to pack extra clothes, and for all kinds of weather. Pack clothes for hot weather and clothes for rainy weather. In Jamaica, coats are not necessary although a light rain slicker might be a good idea.

Don't Forget the Mosquito Repellent

Mosquitoes all over the world carry diseases, and with the dense mosquito population in Jamaica, mosquito protection is especially important. Don't be afraid to spend a couple of extra dollars on high-quality, potent insect repellent. You will need to spray it on every time you leave the hotel, so be sure to have plenty of it available.

Pack a Swimsuit or Two

Bathing suits are a must-have. Any Jamaican vacation spot is never too far from a beach or pool, and taking a dip in the Caribbean is a great way to cool off from the heat of a Jamaican day. If you forget to pack your swimsuit, you will regret it before too long, and Jamaican swimsuit prices are inflated for convenience.

Stay Protected from the Sun

Jamaica is a sunny vacation destination, and that is one of the reasons it is so popular. The very same sun that makes for such beautiful days can also harm the skin, so sunscreen is critical. Pack sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 for optimum protection. Slather it on every time you leave the hotel, even if it doesn't look too sunny and bright.

Pack What You Need for Pictures

Whether you are old fashioned or not, be sure that you have everything you need to take plenty of pictures in Jamaica. If you have gone fully digital, invest in a good-sized memory card. If not, pack plenty of film so you can capture all of the memories of your unforgettable Jamaican getaway.

Mother Moose gifts are made by the company Mother Moose Enterprises. The products available are ornaments and figurines based on wildlife. The company started in 1986 and has grown from a small craft booth at a craft fair to an online business. There are a wide range of gift options available and new designs and items come out each year in the Mother Moose catalog.

Personalized Ornaments

Mother Moose has a wide range of ornament options available for customers. Among the ornaments are moose, bear, fish, horses, chipmunks, buffalo and mules. At the time of purchasing the ornaments, personalization is possible. For example, the company can put a name on the ornament, a phrase or even a state. This allows for personalized wildlife gift options.

Moose Figurines and Other Figurines

Moose figurines have a wide range of designs such as a moose standing, snowboarding, fishing, holding candy, riding a motorcycle, riding a snowmobile, decorating for the holidays, or even a family of moose figurines. Other animal figurines are available as well, though many have limited designs. The bear figurines have many family themed figuring options and there are a few other animals like chipmunks and buffalo. Many of the figurines have personalization options available on small plaques.

Snow Globes

Snow globes feature the moose or other animals in the snow globe performing various activities. Snow globes have little figurines inside, mostly moose but also other animals, who are fishing, canoeing, eating, dancing or just standing. Snow globes are available in the dome shape as well as shapes like pyramids and rectangles.

Picture Frames

Picture frames from Mother Moose are wooden frames with various colors of paint. The designs vary by frame and include plain frames, frames with small squares of alternating colors around the inner rim of the frame, or frames with painted designs. The designs on the painted frames include animals like fish, moose, bears, elk and buffalo, along with Native American dancers, mountain scenes or outdoor winter sports.

Luau Party Decorations & Games

Host a luau party for your next event and don't forget the leis.

Create a tropical oasis to set the theme for your luau party. Whether you're planning a wedding reception, a girl's night, a barbecue or a birthday party, you can incorporate familiar tropical details like palm trees and tiki torches as decor. Keep your guests entertained and in the luau spirit with games that will have guests dancing.

Palm Trees

Palm trees can help liven up your luau party by adding flair to your tropical décor. Use inflatable or artificial palm trees to decorate the entrance of your event or to highlight food, gift and favors tables. If inflatable or artificial palm trees are not readily available, use poster board to create large palm tree cutouts you can hang on the walls. Cut smaller palm trees to create place cards for your tables, thank-you favors for guests, or menu cards.

Tiki Torches

Tiki torches are a common party decoration used to set the scene for a luau party. Instead of going the traditional route of placing tiki torches at the entrance of your venue, have guests participate in a craft activity to create their own tiki torches. Create tiki torches using red and yellow tissue paper as flames. Place the tissue paper inside of a paper towel tube using glue or tape. Illuminate the tiki torches by placing a small flashlight inside of the paper towel tube. Turn this craft into a game by having guests race to create their tiki torches.

Leis

Greet each one of your luau guests with a lei to welcome them to your tropical event. If you have assigned seating at your event, you can incorporate leis into your place-card setting. Place a lei at each guests' seat with a place card made out of card stock. Include a message on the place card, instructing guests to give their lei to the person on the right or left of them. This can serve as an introductory activity for guests to help get them acquainted with the people seated at their tables.

Hula Dancing Contest

During your luau, encourage guests to participate in a hula-dancing contest to win prizes. No hula contest is complete without grass skirts and leis. Rather than only using tropical music for the hula dancing contest, use different genres of music and have guests attempt to hula to each. Mix country, rhythm and blues, bluegrass and rap music as your guests try to hula dance to the various beats.

Limbo

Find out "how low" your guests can go with a game of limbo. Have guests select partners to participate in this game. The objective is to have both team members get under the limbo stick each time it's lowered. While it's likely more economical to create your own limbo stick using wood, you can purchase sets from local party supply stores.

Rehearsal Dinner Table Decorating Ideas

Dining table decor sets the tone for the rehearsal dinner.

Rehearsal dinners are opportunities for fun and celebration with your wedding party and family. There are no hard-and-fast rules about rehearsal dinners, so you can make the event personalized to your and your fiancee's taste. While you wouldn't want to outshine the wedding itself, take the opportunity to creatively decorate your rehearsal dinner for a memorable gathering. The tables are often the focal point of a rehearsal dinner, so focus your efforts on the table decor.

Linens

The basis of table decoration is often the tablecloth and other linens, such as napkins. Select your linens based on the level of formality of your rehearsal dinner. For instance, if you are having a casual backyard barbecue, The Knot website suggests using red and white checkered tablecloths. You could use simple white napkins to complete the look. For a more formal rehearsal dinner, use solid color linens in rich colors, such as chocolate brown or black.

Centerpieces

Floral centerpieces are versatile options for rehearsal dinners because there are so many different flower types, colors and sizes from which to select. Traditional glass vases filled with white flowers will create an elegant, sophisticated look. For a more casual look, a galvanized bucket filled with daisies is an option. If you'd like to use flowers but don't want to use traditional vases, float blooms of flowers in shallow bowls filled with water.

Decor

If you have long, rectangular tables for your rehearsal dinner, you more than likely need more than a centerpiece or two to dress up the rehearsal dinner dining space. Adding other decor, such as votive candles in decorative candleholders or luminarias, will fill in empty spaces on the table while offering a romantic touch to the gathering. Other options for additional table decor include small, framed poems or framed pictures of the engaged couple.

Favors

Favors can serve as treats for your rehearsal dinner guests, but they can also decorate the tables if you place them at each place setting or in containers on the tables. The Knot website provides numerous ideas for tailoring your favors to the theme of your rehearsal dinner. For instance, provide decorative fans for an Asian-inspired rehearsal dinner or Cracker Jack for a baseball-themed gathering. Other options include bottles of jam, boxes of truffles or potted herbs.

Packing Tips For A Cruise

Packing for a cruise is vastly different from packing for any other kind of vacation. A cruise ship is like a floating hotel: yu only have to unpack once, even though you are traveling to many different destinations. This allows you the luxury of bringing nicer clothes, taking more things with you and cleaning your clothing during the cruise.

Types

The first thing to consider is the type of cruise you are taking. Is it a casual adventure or a high end cruise with required black tie events? Is it a weekend 3-day cruise or a journey lasting months? Will you sail to the tropics or a colder environment like Alaska or Antarctica? All of these factors influence the items you pack.

Function

Most cruises have different functions planned for each night. On a week long cruise you can expect at least one formal night, two semi-formal nights and the rest casual nights. Some cruises may also have theme nights like Halloween or a 1950s theme. The cruise line will inform you of each night's dress code before you leave. Semi formal nights require a sport coat and tie for men and dresses for women. Tuxedos and formal gowns are appropriate for formal nights, but a suit or nice dress is also acceptable. If you want to wear something special for a theme night you should bring it yourself. Cruise lines also rent costumes and formal wear. You must make reservations before you depart.

Features

Throughout most of your cruise, you will be wearing casual clothing. For tropical climates pack lightweight clothing made of natural fibers. Bring versatile items that fit the same theme so you can mix and match. Bring a sweater or light jacket even if you are headed to a hot climate. Cruise ship air conditioning can be frigid. For an Arctic or Antarctic cruise, dress for winter even if it is summertime where you live. It is cold at the poles all year long. Most cruise ships offer laundry and dry cleaning service at an extra cost. If you are concerned about a nice clothing item wrinkling in transit, bring it dirty and have it dry cleaned on board. Otherwise, pack dry cleaned items in the plastic wrap to reduce wrinkling.

Considerations

Bring toiletries in travel-sized containers. Only bring as much as you will need for your cruise. Put them in two zip-top bags so they won't damage your clothes if they leak. Bring extra glasses and sunglasses and pack them in separate bags. The same goes for copies of important documents and prescriptions. It is a good idea to distribute clothing between multiple bags. This way you will have complete outfits if one of your bags is lost. Keep all valuables in your carry-on and hold on to it at all times.

Identification

It is essential that you identify your luggage so that it meets you in your cabin when you board your cruise. The cruise line will mail you color-coded luggage tags before you leave. Attach these to all your bags. If you paid for "meet and greet" at the airport, a cruise line employee will collect your baggage for you off the luggage carousel and take it to the ship. If you are making your own way to the ship, you must leave your bags outside when checking in. They will be delivered to your cabin. Without the proper tags, your luggage will be lost or delayed. Also write your name, address, cellular phone number, cruise line and cabin on a piece of paper inside each piece of luggage.

Thank You Note Etiquette For Envelopes

Thank You Note Etiquette for Envelopes

Thank you notes are a polite expression of gratitude, whether for a gift, expression of sympathy, or as a follow up for a job interview. When writing a thank you note, certain protocol should be followed, from the choice of paper, to the text used, and to the format used for addressing the envelopes.

Return Address

Postal guidelines for return addresses dictate placement on the front, upper left corner. However, placement on the back flap is acceptable and sometimes preferred for wedding thank you's or when there is a change of address. Return address can be pre-printed, computer generated directly on envelope or label, or hand-written. Envelopes can be addressed by hand or by computer.

Titles for Married Women

Thank you notes may be addressed to the person who signed the gift card or the attendee of the event, if applicable. Titles for married women should follow the following protocol. Married women can be addressed either with the title Mrs. followed by her husband's first name and last name or her first name, followed by her adopted last name. For informal thank you notes, a first and last name alone would suffice.

Titles for Couples

Formal thank you envelopes for a married couple should be addressed to Mr. and Mrs. followed by husband's first name and last name. Informal notes may be addressed to wife's first name followed by husband's first name and last name. If the wife has retained her maiden name, her name should be addressed first followed by her husband's name unless the husband has a professional title such as Dr., Reverend, or Rabbi. If the couple is living together but unmarried, names should appear on separate lines.

Titles for Doctors, Lawyers, and Justices of Peace

If a wife is a doctor, her name should appear first as Dr. followed by first and last name. Two doctors would be addressed as Drs. followed by both first and last names. Lawyers and justices of peace can be addressed with Esquire or Esq. following name. When addressing an envelope to a couple, you may drop the Esq.

Widows and Divorced Women

Older widows or widows who still use their husband's name should be addressed as Mrs. followed by husband's first and last name. Divorced women who have retained their married last name should be addressed as Mrs. or Ms. followed by her first name and last name. If a divorced woman has adopted her maiden name, she should be addressed as Ms. followed by first and last name.

Children

Children under the age of ten can be addressed with their first and last name. Until twenty-one, young woman should be addressed as Miss and young men as Master. Unmarried women over 21 should be addressed as Ms. followed by first and last name.

Winter Art Projects For Middle School

Foam and craft pearl snowflakes can be used as ornaments.

Whether you are a middle school art teacher or a parent of pre-teens, arts and craft projects can be an easy way to keep kids engaged during cold winter months. Winter-themed crafts that reflect the season are a good way to pass time and can help improve hand-eye coordination, and allow pre-teens to express their creativity.

Winter Candle Luminary

Candle luminaries are a decorative art project that middle school-aged children can make. Fill tin cans with water and freeze them prior to the students arriving for class. Have the students draw a winter-themed image onto a piece of paper, such as a snowflake or snowman. Tape the images to the cans and use a permanent marker to make a series of dots along the outlined edges of the image. Using a hammer and nail, puncture holes in the can along the dots you made using the marker. The ice in the can will prevent the metal from denting and will result in clean, precise holes. Remove the paper and dump out the water before having the teens paint their cans in the colors of their choices. Place a candle in each can, as the light from the candle will make the image on the luminary shine through the holes.

Foam and Craft Pearl Snowflakes

This is an easy to make craft that can be done in a short amount of time. Have the teenagers trace a snowflake design onto a piece of white craft foam, and have them cut their snowflake out using a precision knife for a clean, sharp edge. The students can then decorate their snowflakes using stick-on craft pearls and glitter paint. This craft can easily be turned into a hanging decoration such as a holiday ornament by adding a metal hook through the top.

Mixed Media Winter Painting

This art project is an easy way to introduce young teens to mixed media art, and is a project that can be worked on for several days or class periods. Give each student a small canvas to work on, as well as a variety of mediums. Acrylic paint, colored pencils, glitter, three-dimensional embellishments, crayons and markers are just a few of the mediums that can be used to create a mixed media painting.

Have the students create a wintertime landscape using the mediums of their choice. For example, realistic snow can be made by creating a paste using glue, glitter and white acrylic paint. Have them incorporate as many mediums as possible into their painting.

Most Unique Kids' Birthday Parties

Plan a unique birthday party that kids will enjoy.

Kid's birthday parties are a fun reason to have a unique party event. From the cake and decorations to the party games and favors, the unique party idea you choose should reflect the personality and interests of your child and should be carried out to the last detail. Choosing a unique concept for your child's next birthday will make it one they'll always remember. Does this Spark an idea?

Candy Shoppe

Satisfy the sweet tooth of your birthday boy or girl by transforming your party area into a giant candy shoppe. Invitations designed to look like lollipops set the motif for this unique event. Your party table becomes a candy shoppe with an awning constructed from cardboard and assorted candy items displayed for kids to choose among. Consider games like a gum bubble blowing contest and a lollipop licking competition to tie in with the candy shoppe fun.

Glamor Girl

For that special girl in your life, plan a unique birthday party that showers and her friends in luxury. Birthday parties held in a local salon offer all the benefits your little girl desires from hair and makeup to manicures and pedicures. Have party invitations instruct guests to bring costume clothing to model once the makeover is complete. Complete the party fun by holding photo shoots of the models in their completed ensembles.

Secret Agent Mystery

Your party guests become secret agents at a unique party that invites them to solve a mystery. Nominate an adult party guest to be the culprit and provide clues to the guests to help them uncover the mystery of who stole the birthday cake. Include party games like word scrambles that kids need to decipher to figure out clues or a scavenger hunt to locate items to help solve the mystery. You can place party invitations in "Top Secret" envelopes and decorations can include magnifying glasses and footprints.

Get Artsy

Children who enjoy arts and crafts will go head-over-heels for a party that allows them to show off their talents. Assorted craft kits purchased from a discount or craft store provide hands-on entertainment. Also consider providing the kids with cupcakes and assorted sprinkles and icing to create individual edible masterpieces. Kids can also make their own party favors by decorating t-shirts or pillow cases with fabric paints.

The History Of Grass Dance

The grass dance has a long history.

The grass dance stems back to the day when Native Americans ruled the land. According to Pow Wow's website, the pow wow dance form originated with the Ponca Hethuska Society and Omaha tribe. The dance movements were meant to represent what sweet grass looks like as it swayed in the wind. Native Americans considered grass as the hair of mother earth, according to Pow Wow.

Preparation

Grass dancers had to find an area best fit for the dance and were also charged with preparing the land prior to the ceremony. Certain events, such as the tribe's move to a new camp, called for the grass dance, according to the Prairie Island website. Once the dancers identified the spot, they would flatten the grass, fill any holes and finally bless the dance area, according to Native Spirit's website.

Regalia

Dancers did more than just show respect for grass in their dance form. Dancers also attached braided sweet and prairie grass into their outfits, according to Native Spirit. The dancers also incorporated white, gold or silver yarn fringe, sequins and beaded rosettes into their costumes. Grass dancers sported bells around the ankles and wore moccasins, according to NC State's website.

Over time, grass dancers replaced the traditional sweet or prairie grass in their outfits, and instead focused more on making brighter yarn and ribbons part of their regalia, according to Native Spirit.

Dance Instruments

A grass dancer's regalia went beyond moccasins, headdresses and rainbow-colored yarn and ribbons. The dancers also often carried instruments that added to the presentation of the dance. Typical hand items the dancers held include fans, sticks, goose whistles and hoops and sweet grass braided for hoops, according to Pow Wow. This completed the look of a grass dancer.

More History

Today, the grass dance is typically reserved for men, according to Pow Wow. This does not mean that women have not been a part of the traditional grass dance. According to Pow Wow, many women participated the grass dance and wore its associated regalia during the 1970s. Photos exist from the 1800s of women in grass dance dresses. The dance is often a first dance choice for a child.

History of Pow Wow

The grass dance is just one of the many pow wow dances created by Native Americans. A pow wow is a Native American social gathering with attendance of hundreds of tribe members, according to NC State. The roots of pow wows date back to early to mid-19th century. Pow wows became popular in the Native American community, and tribes started to adapt the dance forms, such as grass dance, into their tribes.

Mud Bug Atv Tours Of Kauai Hawaii

Mud Bugs are ideal for getting through Kauai's varied terrain.

Kauai, Hawaii has numerous tour companies that arrange ATV tours of their lush island. Among the types of ATVs you can choose are small, two-passenger Mud Bugs. Seating is tight in Mud Bugs, which is why they are described as "perfect for honeymoon couples" or for an adult and child. The driver must be at least 16 and have a picture ID; some companies require a driver's license. The passenger must be at least 5 years old. Long pants are recommended, closed-toed shoes are required, and helmets are provided and must be worn. You will get muddy, so rental clothes that cover your own clothes are recommended, and some companies include them in the price.

Koloa Tour

Look for native plants on the Koloa Plantation tour.

Buckle into your Mud Bug for this three-hour tour of Koloa, a 22,000-acre, south shore plantation not open to the public. Koloa was Hawaii's first sugar plantation, which opened in 1835, and shaped the lives of Hawaiians for decades. Many Hawaiians today are descendants of these early plantation workers. See the sites of many movie adventures, including where part of "To End All Wars," starring Keifer Sutherland, was filmed. Ride through an old sugar cane tunnel a half-mile long, where cane was hauled back and forth. Look for wild pigs, bats, buffalo grass and other native Hawaiian plants and animals. Wear long pants and closed-toed shoes.

Waterfall Tour

Ask how steep and how far are the hikes to the waterfalls before signing up.

Get wet on this four-hour tour to two private waterfalls. Enjoy the gorgeous Kauai scenery from your Mud Bug en route to the location, then hike on uneven terrain through a bamboo forest to the falls. Wear your bathing suit underneath your clothes, and bring shoes for hiking, water shoes or old sneakers for the falls, and a beach towel. Some tours include a picnic lunch.

Combo Tour

The Waita Reservoir is not accessible to the public except through a tour.

If you've done the other tours or just want something different, choose a tour that combines both a ride through the Koloa Plantation and a water adventure. One such combo tour is "Puddles and Paddles," offered by Kauai Vacation Tours. Explore the Makai side of the Koloa plantation from your Mud Bug, then kayak in the fresh water of the Waita Reservoir, the largest body of inland water on Kauai. Relax or hike around the shoreline of the Waita, and have a picnic under a canopy of trees. Wear your swimsuit under your clothes and bring "water-friendly shoes" and a beach towel. The picnic, rental clothing for the Mud Bug tour, and kayak equipment are included.

Tour Companies

Some of the tour companies that offer Mud Bug adventures are Hawaii Active, All Kauai Tours, Kauai Vacation Tours, and Tom Barefoot's Cashback Tours Ltd.

Luau Picture Ideas

Luaus are still commonly held on all the Hawaiian islands today.

The Hawaiian luau tradition was started by King Kamehameha II in 1819. The King threw a great feast, at which the traditional dish of lu'au, a mixture of coconut milk, meat and leaves of the taro plant, was served -- giving the tradition its long-lasting name. Luaus today are nowhere near as grand as the original feast, but they are fun and provide many great photo opportunities to visitors to the islands.

The Feast

The feast is the most historically significant part of a luau. The original luau was so important because it was held with both men and women in attendance. In doing so, King Kamehameha II was declaring the old religious tradition of men and women eating separately to be dead. Getting your friends and loved ones in the shot, especially if there is a mixture of genders, will serve as a reminder of the cultural significance of the luau to the Hawaiian people.

The Performers

Modern luaus are much more than feasts, they are parties, and like any good party, they have good entertainment. Fire dancers often spin flaming hula hoops, torches and poi around their bodies at blazing speeds, which can make for some interesting photos of moving light. Hula dancers can provide an image of grace and beauty that mimics the serene beaches and mountains of Hawaii.

The Imu

An imu is an underground oven, typically surrounded by rocks, in which a pig is roasted before a luau. This tradition dates back to ancient Hawaiian feasts, and the digging up of the cooked pig is historically a ceremonial process that marks the beginning of the luau. Documenting the uncovering of the pig in photographs can provide an interesting record of an authentic ancient Hawaiian ritual.

The Landscape

Since all authentic luaus happen in Hawaii, they all happen in a beautiful tropical environment. Documenting the sublime sunsets in the clear, pollution-free air of Hawaii with the going-ons of the luau in the foreground or background can provide you with images that will take your breath away for years to come. This scenery influences every part of the luau, from the traditional garb made from local vegetation, to the decorations furnished entirely from local materials. Noting the landscape is equally as important as documenting the happenings for any luau photo album.

Tropical Wedding Reception Theme Ideas

If a tropical reception is your desire, know before you start planning that there are many different ways to bring the tropics to your venue other than dumping sand on the ground and dressing up in grass skirts. A tropical wedding reception is perfect for the summer months but can also be executed in the dead of winter.

Outdoor Luau

Bring the tropics to your reception by having a luau. Purchase leis and assign someone the task of giving one to each guest upon their arrival. String white lights in trees or around lamp posts and include brilliant reds, yellows and pinks for your floral decor. Offer fruity drinks like a Mai Tai or Hawaiian Sunset along with a pupu platter of small meats and seafood appetizers, fresh fruit, live music and ring tiki torches around the reception area. With these few simple touches, you and your guests will feel as if you have been transported to the islands for an evening.

Indoor Tropics

If your reception will take place in the winter or in a location where being outside is not an option, bring the tropics indoors. Lay palm fronds, real or artificial, on the buffet or dessert table and offer fruity, colorful drinks with umbrella straws. Place large, artificial palm trees around the edges of the room and use scooped out pineapples filled with fresh cut fruit skewers as fun appetizer and halved coconuts as bread baskets. Large, brightly colored flowers, like hibiscus or orchids, as the guest table centerpiece will also help bring out the tropics.

Sophisticated Tropics

If you love the tropics but want a sophisticated reception, select one bright color, like pink, and one or two symbols of what you feel represents the tropics. For instance, use a palm tree and an orchid for your symbols. Decorate your reception location with lots of white with pink as your accent color. As an example, decorate the guest tables with a white table cloth, pink cloth napkins, a small palm tree charm on each water glass and a pair of orchids at the center. Offer a pink cocktail like a Cosmopolitan with white cocktail napkins imprinted with a single pink palm tree and wedding date. For favors, give guests a small jar of seashells or seashell shaped chocolates in a white box wrapped with a pink silk bow.

Makena Cove in Maui is the backdrop for a picture-perfect wedding in Hawaii. The white sandy beach contrasts with the dark lava rock that lines the crystal blue waters. The surroundings in Makena Cove make it a popular spot for weddings in Hawaii, which also means you might have to share the beach with another couple getting married at the same time. Some wedding planners in the area recommend scheduling your ceremony for midmorning because the beach is less crowded and the water turns a lovely aqua-blue color during that time of day.

Chapel by the Sea, Kauai

Kauai's Chapel by the Sea combines all the elegance and comfort of a traditional indoor wedding with the charm and beauty of a tropical outdoor Hawaiian wedding. This popular wedding venue is located at the Kauai Marriott and overlooks the shimmering water of the Kauai Lagoons. From the chapel, you and your guests can enjoy soft Hawaiian breezes as you take in the gorgeous views of the mountains and ocean. The detailed architecture of the chapel provides ample opportunity for beautiful wedding photography as well. Reservations are required for scheduling a wedding at this location.

Olowalu Plantation, Maui

For a larger, more formal wedding event in Hawaii, consider the Olowalu Plantation in Maui. The historic, fully restored plantation home has room for up to 200 wedding guests with parking available for everyone, dressing rooms for the bridal party and a dance floor, all within a few yards of spectacular ocean views. The huge tropical lawn is also available for large outdoor weddings and receptions.

Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens, Kauai

Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens in Kauai provides the ideal setting for a private, serene wedding wrapped beautifully in exotic natural wonder. The lush, oceanside gardens span 240-acres between a tropical meadow and the Pacific Ocean. The site can easily accommodate up to 200 guests, and it provides convenient access for caterers, florists and wedding guests. Guests of the wedding are free explore the botanical grounds and its exotic birds, plants and sea life before and after the wedding.

Sweet 16 Party Checkoff List

Sweet 16 Party Check-Off List

A girl's Sweet 16 party can be a casual get-together or a black tie affair. It can be an intimate gathering of a few close friends, or a blowout party with hundreds of guests. As a parent, you need to know what you are in for, so you and your daughter will be in agreement at every step of the planning process. Does this Spark an idea?

Supplies

Supplies include tables, chairs, plates, glasses, napkins, flatware and decorations such as centerpieces, signs and favors. Pick a party theme that would appeal to your 16-year-old, such as Under the Sea or Oscar Night, to make it easier to find decorations.

Venue

Once you set the date, decide where you are going to host the party. Is it going to be at your home in the basement or backyard? Would a local community center or an outdoor picnic area be better? The party-planning website Purple Trail Party Ideas suggests taking your daughter and her friends to a spa, restaurant or amusement park as an alternative to a traditional party. If the location requires a booking, make and confirm reservations before making up the invitations.

Music

If you plan on having music for dancing, decide how you would like to set it up. If hiring a disc jockey or live band, make your choice as early as possible. Ask other parents who may have already hosted a Sweet 16 party, or search the Internet for local DJs and bands and make some calls to compare availability, rates, available music, etc. Alternatively, create a playlist on a computer or an iPod, making sure you have the appropriate technology and sound system to play it at the party. Most electronics stores will sell speakers that can be connected to an iPod.

Chaperones

Arrange for a few adults to be present if the party is just for teens, to supervise the guests and make sure things don't get out of hand. The more teenagers your daughter invites, the more chaperones you will want. Aim for one chaperone for every ten guests. Mention on the invitations that chaperones will be present, to give parents peace of mind.

If you are hosting a family-oriented Sweet 16 party, with a mix of friends and family members, you may not need to arrange for chaperones.

Invitations

Decide on a limit of how many people you will invite. Discuss it with your daughter, and together, create a guest list. Make up the invitations, which should include the theme, date, location, time and R.S.V.P. details. Send them out at least four weeks prior to the party. If you have the invitations professionally printed, place your order a minimum of three weeks before you need to send them out, in case any errors need to be corrected. If you wish, make your own invitations at home, using cardstock and craft supplies from a local craft shop, or buy blank invitation cards.

Food

Make arrangements for feeding the crowd, whether you provide the food yourself or hire a caterer. Will it be a sit-down meal or a casual, finger-food buffet? Will there be a cake or a variety of desserts? Are you making punch or serving soft drinks? These decisions must be made in the early planning stages of the party. If you're doing the work, make a list of what you'll need and another list of when you need to do each task. Recruit family member and friends to help so you don't feel overwhelmed.

Games

Games are a fun part of the party. They can add laughter and memories that will last a lifetime.

Have two people stand back-to-back. Each will hold a fishing pole with an unwrapped candy bar tied to the end of each line. Each player then tries to eat the candy bar from the other person's fishing line. The first to finish wins.

Another fun game involves a little dressing up. Find many large and extra large male and female clothes. You want them to include underwear, hats, shoes--a good variety. Make sure there is an even amount of clothes, mix them up and put them in a pile or a laundry basket. Divide your guests into couples. The girl must put on the boy's clothing, and the guy needs to put on the girl's clothing. Use a stop watch to time each couple on how fast they can get dressed and cross a finish line. To ease parents' concerns, the game clothes should be put on top of the kids' own clothes.

Miscellaneous

Remember to charge up your digital camera before the party, so you can take plenty of photos of this memorable event. If you plan to give out party favors like t-shirts, hats or noisemakers, have them organized before the day of the party. Finally, help your daughter pick out an outfit at least two weeks before the party. It should be something both of you are comfortable with her wearing, but most of all, she should be happy with it.

Party Food Ideas For 13th Birthdays

Celebrate your teen's birthday with a sophisticated party.

A child's 13th birthday marks his first year as a teenager and can be very special. As a new teenager, your child is moving closer to adulthood and may want to celebrate that with a more sophisticated menu than the usual cupcakes and hot dogs from past birthdays. Explore some of the many food options for your teen's birthday to plan a menu that the birthday boy will enjoy. Does this Spark an idea?

Appetizers and Drinks

Serve appetizers and drinks that teens will be sure to eat and drink. Choose appetizers that are not too "kid-like"---skip the peanut butter and jelly crackers. Serve baked pretzel bites filled with cheese or even jalapeno poppers and mozzarella sticks. Young teens may not yet be able to fully appreciate goat cheese on crackers, but they can certainly appreciate some cheesy, beefy nachos or fresh veggies with dip.

Choose drinks that are not too sugary. If your teen really likes soda, offer it but ask the kids to drink it in moderation. If this could be a problem, make a mixed fruit punch and add some soda water. The result is a sweet and fizzy drink that will not cause the sugar rush that sodas do. Offer milk as another option. Chocolate milk may be a favorite of younger kids, but teens who like chocolate may choose it over anything else. Offer water as well, especially if the party is outdoors. Keeping kids hydrated in warmer weather is important.

Main Course

Allow the guests to get involved for the main course. Lay out a buffet of ingredients, and allow guests to choose what they want to add to their own personal meal. Make enough pizza dough for each guest to have an individual pizza. Offer different types of sauce, cheese, meat and veggies to add on top. Allow them to build the pizzas and then have an adult bake them. If you do not want to make pizzas, consider a taco or burger bar. Provide taco shells or burger buns, burgers or taco meat, and all of the toppings that the kids might like to add.

Dessert

Lay out several different types of dessert for your guests throughout the party, or save the sweets for after dinner. If you do choose to lay out some sweets, choose easy to eat items like cookies or brownies. Make a cake for the party, but allow the teens to decorate it themselves. Ask them all to pitch in on one large cake, or have them decorate their own cupcakes. Provide them with icing, sprinkles, whipped cream and different types of candy to decorate with.
