Construction paper comes in an assortment of colors that are perfect for fruit crafts.
Vivid, colorful construction paper has long been a favorite for homemade crafts, especially with children. It is inexpensive, versatile, user-friendly for even young children and can be used with a variety of other materials. When you are making pineapple crafts, construction paper can help you make projects and decorations to brighten your home and classroom.
Promote Healthy Eating
Make a construction paper pineapple to promote healthy eating. Use a paper piecing collage technique to bring it together and replicate some of the texture on a pineapple. Start with a large yellow oval. You can decorate the oval with different things to replicate the texture. Tear a brown piece of construction paper into random shapes, approximately 1/2 inch in size, and glue them on like a mosaic. Alternately, crumple small brown pieces of tissue paper and glue it on. Hang the pineapple craft up to remind kids to eat healthy fruit for snacks.
Letter P Crafts
When your child is learning about the letter "P," you can use a pineapple craft as a creative activity. Cut out a large oval from yellow construction paper and decorate the pineapple with a face. Have kids cut out or draw eyes, a nose and a mouth on the pineapple, and add green leaves like hair. These types of crafts help preschoolers recall the letter "P" when they see a pineapple, so they begin to relate the letter to the sound.
Pineapple Prints
You can use actual fruit as a sort of stamp for making your own wrapping paper out of construction paper. Take a ring of pineapple and pat it on a paper towel, then dip it in your favorite craft paint and press it on the piece of construction paper. You can use a different slice in each color so you can make a rainbow of rings on the page.
Sunfaded Pineapples
Pineapples have a very distinct shape. You can record the shape of a pineapple onto a piece of construction paper much like you can record a picture on a negative. Construction paper fades very easily in the sun. Within hours, exposure to sun can bleach out the color. Place some large construction paper sheets on a flat surface outdoors on a dry day. Lay a pineapple down on each sheet and just wait. Several hours later, when you remove the pineapple, you will see its dark image on the paper. You can frame these and hang them as nature art. Hang several in a row on different colors of paper.
Spongebob Squarepants
If your kids love this hilarious cartoon character, don't forget that he lives in a pineapple under the sea. When you are making Spongebob crafts, include pineapples. For example, make a diorama of Spongebob's world and piece a paper pineapple in the background. Alternately, make a construction paper mural on a bulletin board and include a pineapple border.
