Long Island Children's Museum
Celebrate your child's birthday in a setting that's educational and fun. The Long Island Children's Museum in Garden City offers birthday party packages for children ages two to12. Tots between two and five can listen to the birthday boy's favorite story, and then create an art project based on the tale. The museum also features a messy merriment party, where young kids can frolic in a room filled with paints and other oozy and squishy materials. (The package includes smocks and clean-up.) For older kids, there's a Weird Science party in the museum's lab, or a chance to play private detective by solving a mystery in the museum. Museum birthday parties are available on Wednesdays and Fridays between 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. for children between five and 12, and on Saturdays and Sundays for all age groups.

The Great Neck location of this nationwide chain has five private rooms that can hold up to 140 people for office parties, birthdays or holiday celebrations. For private lunch parties, there's a deli lunch buffet platter with an assortment of sandwich meats, cheeses and salads, or a sit-down menu with a choice of salmon, chicken or filet mignon. A light after-work reception menu offers Hors d'oeuvres, a carving station and cocktails. Dinner entrees include Morton's signature steaks and all the trimmings.
