Acme Tomato

Acme tomatoes, or lycopersicon esculentum, is a variety of tomato grown from a potato leaf tomato plant. An acme tomatoe plant can grow to be six to 20 feet tall. The plant can bloom anywhere from early spring to late summer with white and yellow flowers. The fruit, or tomatoes, grow from the pollinated flowers. They are red, apple-shaped tomatoes that weight four to six ounces and grow in a small cluster of about six tomatoes. The USDA zones for the plant have not yet been defined, however, the plant is best grown in full sun, sand or clay soil and normal to moist conditions. The plants do not produce fruit in temperatures below 55 degrees Fahrenheit and will stop growing in temperatures over 85 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit.

Prudens Purple

Prudens purple, cherokee purple or Lycopersicon lycopersicum, is a variety of tomato grown from a potato leaf tomato plant. The plant can grow to be eight feet tall and 2 feet wide. When the plant blooms in summer, it produces white to whitish-yellow colored flowers. When pollinated, the flowers produce a big, beefsteak shaped tomato. The tomatoes can reach one pound in size. The tomato is given it's name, due to the reddish-purple and reddish-brown color of the fruit the plant produces. The plant should be planted in full sun conditions, with well draining soil.
