Teacher'S Luncheon With A Cruise Ship Theme Ideas

A cruise ship vacation typically involves pampering and tropical weather.

Add a degree of fun and entertainment to an ordinary teachers luncheon by incorporating a festive theme. A cruise ship theme is one that allows for a great deal of creativity in the decorations and refreshment planning and will also be enjoyable for a broad spectrum of people. The extra time and effort of incorporating the theme into the event will make the teachers attending feel that much more special and important. Does this Spark an idea?

Invitations

Grab the invited teachers' attention with a dramatic opening line such as "All Aboard!" This will capture their interest and alert them immediately to the fact that this will be no ordinary teachers luncheon, but something more special and exciting. Use nautical terminology throughout the invitation and use tropical imagery on the invitation itself. Cruises are typically to tropical destinations so including pictures of palm trees and colorful flowers will be consistent with the theme.

Decorations

Decorate the area of the luncheon with bright, tropical colors and beach scenery. Cover the tables and chairs with brightly colored linens, such as in pinks, oranges and yellows. Use tropical fruits like pineapples and/or flowers, such as orchids, as centerpieces on the tables. Cut grass skirts and hang them from the edges of tables and podiums so the grass cascades down. Place a lei at each place setting for the teachers to wear during the luncheon to get them involved in the festive cruise ship theme.

Refreshments

Serve a variety of fresh fruit juices, fruit punch and tropical sodas, such as pineapple soda or coconut soda, at the luncheon. Garnish the drinks with tropical umbrellas to give the guests a taste of the cruise ship theme. Garnish all the plates for lunch with an edible, colorful flower garnish. Use colorful dishes and cups to give the table a festive feel. Choose tropical menu items such as meat kabobs, salads and exotic fruits.

Entertainment

Play a variety of island music on a stereo throughout the luncheon, to complete the cruise ship feel. Set up tables for games in the room, such as on a cruise ship where there are typically gaming rooms and casinos. The games played could be card games like poker or blackjack or board games like Candy Land or Trivial Pursuit. Invite entertainers to come to the luncheon to perform juggling or magic tricks. You could also invite musicians to play island music on steel drums or the bongo.
