One of the best games to play at a bridal shower is the famous couples game. It is really easy to do, everyone loves it, and it makes for great conversation. It is also a great game for people of all ages, since you can choose famous couples of all genres and generations.
The Object of the Game
The goal is to match the celebrity with their partner, husband or wife. You can set this up a number of different ways. The first way is to list one half of the couple and have your guests fill in the blank. Or, you can make it multiple choice and have them choose between a, b or c. If you really don't like to type, give them a piece of paper and a pen and have them list as many celebrity couples they can think of.
Set the Rules
You do have to set some rules, or your guests may have a few objections to some of the couples listed. Most of the time, the famous couples listed are either married, were married or have been in a notable committed partnership for a long time. There may also be a gray area since a lot of famous couples have been married more than once, so you need to decide if you can list someone multiple times, such as Tom Cruise who was married to Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman and now Katie Holmes.
Tie Breakers
If there is a tie, a great way to break it is by having a few backup questions about some of the famous couples. For example; you can ask how many kids a couple has had, or how many times have they each been married. You can also break a tie by asking them when or where the famous couple got married.
Creative Famous Couples
Don't forget there are a lot of famous couples who aren't actually "real," meaning they can be a cartoon character, or famous characters from movies. Take Mickey and Minnie, or Beauty and the Beast. You could even use Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler. These are some great couples to include in the game, and it will throw your guests for a loop. Or even Fred and Ginger would be a great couple to list.
Feel the Love
Getting married is a positive happy time, try to stick with famous couples who represent love and marriage. Using Beavis and Butt-head would probably not be that romantic. Here are examples of some great famous couples to include in your game; Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, Shrek and Fiona, Jessica and Roger Rabbit, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith.
The Prize
Stick with the famous couple theme when you present the winner of the game with her prize. Give a DVD of a movie or a book that represents a great love story. Or keep it simple with a gift card to the movies or a video store.
