Themes For Parties For Adults

Choosing the right theme can lead to a successful party.

When planning a party, choosing a theme will set the tone for the night. It will determine the decorations, along with the entertainment and possibly how the guests will dress. While planning a theme party for children can be easy, planning one for adults may take a little more time. However, there are many themes to choose from that adults can enjoy. Does this Spark an idea?

Slumber Party

Throwing a slumber party can bring the host and her guests memories of their youth. It can also provide hours of bonding time between friends and a chance for new people to get to know one another. An adult slumber party can be the theme for a bachelorette party, a going away party or just a night with friends. Guests can participate in games such as Truth or Dare and classic board games. Additional entertainment options can include a movie marathon, karaoke or group cooking. The host can provide pizza, chips and snacks, along with drinks, to make the party feel more adult. The next morning, everyone can get together for breakfast or brunch before going their separate ways.

Murder Mystery Party

For a host with friends who enjoy a little mystery and competition, hosting a murder mystery party can provide a balance of both. The host can purchase a script that will include a case to solve along with clues and the roles that each guest will play as a character. Guests can work together to compare clues that they have picked up during the reading of the script. In addition to murder mysteries, hosts can choose from different types of crimes for the guests to solve such as a kidnapping or theft case. The host can provide a full dinner or appetizers and drinks, along with a prize such as a gift certificate for the guest who solves the case.

Hippie Party

Party hosts who are looking for a memorable and fun evening may consider throwing a Hippie Party using decorations and themes from the 1960s. Guests can come dressed in their favorite retro attire including clothes that have been tie-dyed, bell bottom pants, long hair wigs and big sunglasses. The host can decorate the venue with peace symbols, beads and lava lamps to set the tone. For entertainment, the host can play music from the decade complete with a dance contest to allow guests to show off their best hippie moves. The food can be simple finger foods and drinks made from recipes that were popular during the 1960s.
