Wedding Favor Ideas To Make

Create personalized and unique favors for your wedding.

It's no secret that weddings can be incredibly expensive. Many brides and grooms look for ways to save on costs, particularly when they are paying for the wedding themselves. One way to save is to make your own wedding favors. Favors are given to guests as a way to say thank you for coming, but they don't need to be expensive or elaborate.

Cookies

Make sugar cookies and give them out as favors at your wedding. Roll out your dough and cut it into a wedding-themed shape, such as a bride or a wedding cake. Frost the cookie with royal icing in a color that coordinates with the colors of your wedding. Once the icing has hardened, use more royal icing in a contrasting color to write the first initials of the bride and groom on the cookies. Place each cookie in a small cellophane bag and tie it closed with ribbon.

CD

If you and your fiance are into music, create CDs that are filled with a song list of your favorites. Use the downloaded music on your computer and burn CDs with the playlist. Use a computer program and round CD labels to create adhesive labels for the CDs that have the songs on them, along with your names and the date of your wedding. Place the CDs in clear plastic CD cases and hand them out at the end of the night.

Flower Seeds

Flower seeds make a good homemade favor for a spring wedding. Purchase blank seed envelopes at a craft store or online. Buy a large bag of flower seeds, such as mixed wildflowers, from a garden center. Buying seeds in bulk will save on costs. Place a spoonful or two of seeds in each packet and seal them. Make adhesive labels with your names and wedding date printed on them and put them on the front of the packets.

Candles

Make your own candles and give them out as wedding gifts. Buy small glass jars to serve as the container for your homemade candles. You can find wax in bulk at craft stores that you can melt and pour into the jars. Add candle dye and scent as well to make the candles coordinate with your wedding. Tie a ribbon around the candles to add decorative appeal.
