Hosting a party can be a lot of work, but the result is usually a lot of fun. One of the first considerations is where to have it. The party venue has to have enough room for all the guests, have fun things to do, and not detract from the overall mood of the party. No matter where you live, there are plenty of options for places to have a party of any size. Does this Spark an idea?
Your House
Having a party at your house is the simplest option, although it will be a lot of work for you as host or hostess. You can control everything at your home. If you don't want to be preoccupied with cooking, cleaning and serving during your party, consider hiring a catering company or waitstaff to help out.
A Restaurant or Bar
If you'd rather not do any work during the party or worry about something in your house getting ruined, a restaurant or bar--depending on the age of the guests--is a good place to have a party. If the party is small enough to fit at a table, just call ahead of time, explain your situation and make a reservation. If the party is bigger, you may want to make a reserve a room or section of the restaurant or bar a month or two in advance.
If you'll have a lot of guests, you can pick a few items from the restaurant's regular menu to create a party menu for guests to choose from. Some restaurants will also allow you to bring your own cake in, if you're celebrating a special occasion, no matter how big the party is. Just check ahead of time.
A Park
When the weather allows, parks are great places to host large parties. There's lots of open space and playgrounds and usually soccer, baseball and basketball courts for guests to play on. Most parks also rent pavilions with picnic tables, grills and sometimes kitchens for a small fee.
Other Places
If you want to go somewhere with lots of activity, have a party at an amusement park, a bowling alley, a movie theater, a theme restaurant, or any other activity center. Many of these places will have special party rooms for you to use, or you can begin the party at your house, go to your destination, and leave from there or end the party at your house, too. Call ahead to check if there are discount rates or special party packages, and make sure the chosen destination is age-appropriate. If you're going somewhere like a big amusement park with a large group of children, also make sure there are enough adults to keep an eye on everyone.
