A tropical party calls for tropical name tags.
When planning a theme party or event, paying attention to the details is important because the little touches reinforce the theme throughout the celebration. Having tropical name tags will help put your guests in a tropical mood from the moment they arrive. Whether you're planning a tropical-themed birthday party, company picnic, summer class or community education workshop, take name tag design inspiration from the flora, culture and iconic images of the tropics. Does this Spark an idea?
Palm Tree Name Tags
Augment plain plastic name tag holders with palm tree silhouettes cut out of craft foam. Green is the obvious color choice for the tree silhouettes, but you could use other tropical colors like blue, fuchsia and orange. Cut out the silhouettes and attach them to the tags with dabs of hot glue, one tree per tag. Print name tags with each person's name and insert them in the holders.
Flower Name Tags
Hibuscus flowers are colorful and recognizable tropical blooms.
Make name tags out of craft foam cut to resemble hibiscus flowers. Cut the foam in the shape of a hibiscus flower's outline. Use black paint or permanent marker to write each person's name in the middle of a foam flower. Hot-glue each foam flower to a pin. Alternately, buy fake hibiscus flowers, cut the stems off and glue one fake hibiscus to the side of a standard plastic name tag holder. Print off the event attendees' names in an ornate font and put them in the holders.
Postcard Name Tags
Use photo editing software to turn a tropical beach photo in a postcard name tag.
Flaunt your creativity with name tags made to resemble miniature postcards. Start with a photo of a tropical scene, such as a palm-tree-lined beach, a surfer riding perfect waves, or a person in a hammock with a tropical drink. Use photo editing software to crop the photo, saturate the color and add a border. Print versions of the tweaked photo with each event attendee's name arching through the photo scene like the "Wish You Were Here!" on a stereotypical postcard. Print the postcard name tags on sturdy cardboard stock and glue them to pins.
Surfboard Name Tags
Surfboards come in different shapes, including "egg" and "pintail."
Cut peel-off adhesive name tags into surfboard shapes to invoke the laid-back, "hang ten" vibe of the tropics. Alternately, cut craft foam into surfboard shapes and write each person's name horizontally along the longest axis of the shape. Glue the shapes to pins.
