Enjoy all-inclusive resorts at Caribbean destinations, such as the Bahamas.
The Caribbean Sea is home to tropical islands, such as Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, that feature popular all-inclusive resorts. Some of the more well-known all-inclusive resort chains include Club Med and Beaches. After some exploring, though, vacationers find secluded resorts with tranquil atmospheres and upscale all-inclusive amenities. Most of the Caribbean's popular resorts are accessible by a nearby international airport or short ferry ride.
Petit St. Vincent Resort
Located in the Grenadines, the Petit St. Vincent Resort is on an isolated island approximately 40 miles south of St. Vincent and is among the top all-inclusive resorts in the world, according to "Forbes" magazine. The 115-acre resort is only accessible by a boat from Barbados, and its 22 stone cottages lack televisions or telephones. The cottages offer ceiling fans, living rooms and sun decks with views of the Caribbean Sea. If guests need anything from the resort's staff, they raise a flag on a bamboo pole next to their cottage.
The resort's chef prepares seafood and steak cuisine. Guests may dine in their cottage or at the resort's clubhouse. All cottages are within walking distance of swimming activities in the beach. The all-inclusive rates include use of the resort's kayaks and windsurfers, which are located in the resort's dock house. For an additional fee, the resort provides massages, yoga classes and boat charters.
Club Med Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
This resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, is a member of the Club Med resort group, which is considered by the "Los Angeles Times" as one of the "Big Three" hotel chains in the Caribbean. Punta Cana is on the eastern end of Dominican Republic, which places the resort less than 30 minutes from hiking and bird-watching opportunities at Del Este National Park. Club Med Punta Cana is also within 15 minutes of Punta Cana International Airport.
On-site dining at this Club Med includes Hispaniola, a seaside restaurant with buffet options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, while the poolside Samana serves local fare for lunch and dinner. Activities included in the all-inclusive package are flying trapeze classes, fitness and dance classes, snorkeling tours and tennis. The resort features five Trident guest units that have living rooms and private terraces overlooking the sea.
Beaches Negril Resort and Spa
The Beaches resort in Negril is on the western end of Jamaica and is one of the top resorts for families, according to the "New York Times." Family-oriented activity centers at the resort include the Game Garage, a video game hall, and the Scratch DJ Academy, which offers turntable disc-jockey lessons. Other resort amenities include a water park with two tall water slides and a lazy river ride, massages and body treatments at the resort's spa, tennis courts and fitness center. Spa services are not included in all-inclusive package.
The resort's eateries include Kimonos, an Asian fusion restaurant; Last Chance Saloon, which serves southwestern U.S. cuisine; and The Seville, a fine-dining Italian dining establishment. Two- and three-bedroom guest units have private balconies, living rooms and kitchens. Butler service is available upon request. Beaches Negril is accessible via the Negril International Airport, which is located approximately 90 minutes from the resort.
