Throw her a monkey birthday party she'll love.
Monkeys are the perfect theme for a child's birthday party, especially children who love jungle animals or are fans of Curious George. It's easy to play monkey games (peel bananas with your feet), and no monkey party is complete without foods based around bananas. To make the party complete, however, monkey and jungle decorations are a must. Does this Spark an idea?
Vines and Trees
Turn your indoor room into a jungle by creating vines and banana trees out of construction paper. Use crumpled up brown paper for the trunks of the trees, and create wide banana leaves out of green construction paper. Attach the trunks to the wall with sticky tack, which will come off the wall without damaging it. Attach the leaves to top of the trunk with double-sided tape, or to the wall or ceiling with more sticky tack. Dangle pieces of crepe paper from the ceiling to mimic vines. Attach real or construction-paper bananas in bunches to the trees. Don't forget to perch a stuffed or paper monkey in each tree.
Monkey Face Garland
Welcome your birthday party guests with a garland made from monkey faces. Use paper plates and construction paper to create simple faces, and use a black marker to write a letter on the front of each "face". Attach the faces to a string with a stapler or tape. The faces could spell out a message such as "Happy Birthday", or they could simply spell out the birthday boy or girl's name. Drape the garland across the doorway, front porch or the birthday gift or food table.
Monkey Prints
Set the stage for fun by placing "monkey prints" on the floor. These can be outdoors or indoors. Monkey footprints look very much like a human hand, but with an elongated palm and a thumb that is shorter and almost at a right angle to the palm. Create a set to guide your guests to the front door, or place a trail of prints leading from the game area to the food table. Make the prints out of construction paper, or use brown and black chalk if you are drawing them directly on cement.
Ears and Tails
Don't forget to decorate your guests. The children will love to dress up as monkeys and do a little "monkeying around." Give them each a headband with monkey ears attached. (Make them ahead of time out of construction paper, or do this at the party as a craft activity). Extend the monkey business by also pinning a construction-paper monkey tail on each child.
