Luau Party Centerpiece Ideas

Luau centerpieces use the same bright colors found in the other decorations.

Luaus traditionally have a lot of fresh flowers and bright colors, which carry over into the centerpieces. The centerpieces are used on each table at the party and can even be used to decorate a buffet table. The right centerpiece gets people talking and gives each table its own focal point. Take into account the other decorations used in your luau party and pick luau party centerpiece ideas that work around those colors and decorations. Does this Spark an idea?

Margarita Glass Centerpiece

A margarita glass centerpiece is made from a jumbo margarita glass or an oversize margarita glass. Lay fake bamboo leaves in the center of the table and set the glass on the leaves. Fill with real or artificial flowers, using bright colors that match your luau decorations. Wrap a flowered lei around the base of the glass, hiding it from party guests. Use colored margarita glasses, such as red or green to add even more color to your party. Alternatively, fill the glass with water and add floating candles, which add some light. Wrap the stem of the glass in a flowered lei that matches your color scheme.

Beach Centerpieces

Craft a beach centerpiece on each of your tables using shells, sand and other decorative elements. Cover the tables with tablecloths and set a sheet of plastic on top of the tablecloth, in the center of the table. Pour the sand directly on top of the plastic sheet and top with luau themed items, including seashells or shell necklaces. Look for luau themed confetti and add that to the sand mixture. Top with a homemade message in a bottle. Roll up a small sheet of paper and slide it inside a glass bottle. Keep closed with the bottle's lid or a piece of cork.

Fresh Fruit Boats

A fresh fruit boat serves two functions at your luau: it acts as a decorative element and also provides food for guests. Use pineapples, watermelons, yellow melons and any other type of large melon. Cut melon in half lengthwise and scoop out the fruit inside with a melon baller. Set the melon in a large bowl and top with lemon juice, to prevent browning. Mix the different types of melon with other fruits, including freshly cut apples or strawberries and grapes. Pour the fruit salad mixture back into the melon halves and set in the center of each table and surround with napkins and skewers for guests.
