The River Cafe
Less than a mile from 45 Monroe Place is the River Cafe, which sits directly on the Brooklyn waterfront and, according to the cafe's website, was the catalyst for the waterfront's redevelopment. The upscale River Cafe offers a classic mix of steak, seafood and poultry dishes which start at around $23 for lunch entrees. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday and brunch on Sunday.
Armando's Restaurant
Armando's Restaurant is just about four blocks from the courthouse. This Italian eatery has been in the neighborhood since 1936 and was frequented by stars such as Marilyn Monroe. Armando's serves perennial Italian favorites such as veal Parmesan, a variety of pasta dishes and specialties such as filet of sole saut meuniere, which is sole cooked in white wine, lemon and butter. Armando's is open every day for lunch and dinner and offers brunch on Sunday. It also delivers in the surrounding area.
Five Guys Burgers and Fries
When you want a quick lunch, Five Guys Burgers and Fries offers hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and French fries. You can order food online and then walk a few short blocks from 45 Monroe Place to pick up your order. Five Guys is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Lichee Nut
New York is known for its many Chinese restaurants, and this Brooklyn Heights neighborhood is no different. Lichee Nut, which is a short distance from the Supreme Court building, offers favorite Chinese dishes such as egg foo young, moo shu, beef and broccoli and sweet-and-sour pork.
