Simple Foods To Serve At A Baby Shower

Baby showers help prepare the mother-to-be for her new arrival.

Baby showers congratulate the mother-to-be on her baby. Guests bring baby-oriented gifts to these fun-filled gatherings and prepare to welcome the new child into the world. Make simple snacks for guests to eat while they enjoy each other's company. Try simple appetizers and finger foods. Does this Spark an idea?

Deviled Eggs

Serve deviled eggs at a baby shower. It's simple to create this delicious and filling finger food for your guests. Hard-boil eggs and cut them in half. Scoop the yolks out, mash them in a bowl and mix them with mayo, mustard or a variety of other spices. Scoop the mix out with a spoon and deposit it back into the half-oval of the divided hard-boiled egg. Sprinkle the tops of these deviled eggs with paprika or cayenne for an added touch of flavor.

Vegetable Tray

To keep it as healthy as possible, serve a tray of cut vegetables. Cut all colors of bell pepper into strips, and stock baby carrots, celery sticks, bite-sized cherry tomatoes, baby broccoli, and even cauliflower to much on. Try snap peas for another tangy, healthy option. Offer a bowl of salad dressing on the side or in the middle of the tray for dipping. Ranch and blue cheese are standard choices, but are also notoriously unhealthy. Consider lighter versions, or try a different flavor of dressing entirely to give your vegetable tray an original taste.

Quesadillas

A classic Mexican food appetizer, quesadillas make a great simple baby shower food. They are easy to assemble, and you can vary the fillings. Take two tortillas and melt cheese on one or both of them. Add other items, ranging from chopped vegetables to meat, to the cheesy tortilla's surface. Put the two tortillas together like bread on a sandwich. The cheese melts around the other food items and effectively locks them all together. Cut the round quesadilla into pie-shaped pieces to serve. Get creative with your fillings, combining vegetables like spinach and mushrooms, or using seafood like crab or shrimp.
