Picture Centerpiece Ideas

Use a framed photo of a loved one as a table centerpiece.

A table centerpiece is an important decorative element for any party or gathering that's focused around a dining table. The centerpiece dresses up the table and draws attention to the theme of the event. Photo centerpieces have become a popular idea because they enhance your table with personal significance. Does this Spark an idea?

Group or Family Picture

Use a recent or old framed photo of your group or family as a centerpiece. If you're hosting a holiday family gathering, work last year's family photo into the table decor. Everyone will enjoy looking at it and the photo will spark memories and conversations. If you're meeting with an old group of friends, use a photo of the same group at a younger age. This centerpiece will lead to reminiscing about old times and initiate fun stories and anecdotes about shared memories and experiences.

Tribute Photo

If a person close to the group recently passed away, use a framed photo of that person as your centerpiece. The photo can help people through the grieving process, especially if the loved one recently passed on. Use this as a centerpiece at a wake or funeral, as well as at a festive celebration as a way of including the person in the festivities. Tell happy stories about memories at similar events with the person to liven up the mood.

Guest of Honor Photos

Use photos of the guest of honor as party centerpieces. For example, for wedding reception centerpieces, use different photos of the couple on each table. This gives each table a unique look and can form the basis of varying themes per table -- as well as seating designations -- such as the "beach table" and the "Europe" table. Use a similar approach to a birthday party; include different photos of the birthday boy on each table, using them to tell his life story or just as a mixed collection of special memories.

Art or Abstract Photos

Use artistic photos or photos that are not of people as centerpieces. For example, at a Thanksgiving dinner feast, use photos of fall colors or fall produce as centerpieces. Visit your local farmer's market to photograph fall vegetables or take a trip to a forest preserve to photograph the changing leaves. Print and frame your favorite photos for the centerpieces. Photos of flowers or a favorite work of art make interesting centerpieces as well; pick a photo with colors that match the room or event's color scheme and theme.
