A tropical fish wedding theme opens up all the colors of the ocean for your design, in addition to a host of fish. This can lead to a fun and playful design with bright color choices or a more subdued affair with deeper color choices. You can also accent with a tan or taupe neutral to simulate the sandy bottom of the ocean and shells it contains, or pick a vibrant hue from the coral fish tend to play around or hide behind.
Color
Color combinations for tropical fish range from the bright or neon colors of the fish themselves to the deep midnight blues of the seas they live in. Some colors for angel fish include hot turquoise, teal green, midnight blue, black and neon yellow, while a clown fish comes in neon yellow with black, red with blue, bright red, pale pink or yellow. Narrow down your wedding colors to a maximum of three colors. Some combinations for an outdoor wedding include turquoise and pinks or oranges for a tropical feel or midnight blue and silver for a more formal affair.
Wedding Stationery
For a playful and more relaxed theme, send your wedding invitation in the shape of a tropical fish, such as angel fish, silver dollar fish, rainbow fish or clown loach fish. Write the wedding details in bright colorful ink reminiscent of the fish themselves. Another option, which is a little more formal, involves imprinting the invitations on tropical colored card stock with an indented fish shape and bright ink. Arrange for the placement cards, seating chart, menu and RSVP cards to be completed the same way.
Decoration
Swag tropical flower garlands of plumeria on the ends of the pews and stalks of plumeria in large vases at the altar. Weave gauze around an outdoor wedding arch and drape small tropical fish and shells from the center and along the sides with plumeria flowers. Set up a midnight blue carpet to the arch for the bride with shells, sand and flower petals. Pick a colorful print fabric of tropical fish to drape over the reception tables or go for tropical blue gauze. Cover chair backs with fish rope netting as a sash from the top corner of the chair to the seat. Use a small shell necklace as the tie.
Centerpiece and Favors
Place fishbowls with beta fish elevated in the center of the table or fill one with faux fish with fish tank pebbles holding flower stems and float fish candles above. Another option is layering colored sand into a glass cylinder container with faux fish along the sides of the glass and a grouping of candles inside. Give fish favors, such as tropical fish bubble bath, beach themed glass coasters, metal fish key rings or tropical fish shaped chocolate candy to the guests.
