Tropical Party Decorating Ideas

Tiki torches act as both a great decoration and a mood-setting light source for tropical-themed parties.

With the right decorations, you can turn your yard into a tropical paradise for your next party. Bring the beach to your backyard with the careful arrangement of sand and surfboards. When you add soft lighting or tiki torches, you set the mood for a party scene reminiscent of a festive Hawaiian luau.

Tiki Time

Set the stage for your tropical party by using tiki torches and candlelight to guide your guests down the path to your party. Spread leis out on the dinner table, and give each guest a lei. Wrap grass skirts around the edges of your tables; you can cut the skirts and expand them to a larger size. Decorate drinks with tiny umbrellas.

A Beach Flavor

Place seashells around your dining area.

Purchase sand from your local toy store, and use the sand to line your walkway or use as decoration at your party. Fill plastic pails with sand, then put up beach umbrellas around the area.

Tropical Trees & Surf Time

Buy inflatable palm trees at your local party supply store. You also can paint palm trees onto large white sheets of art paper. Then cut the trees out, and attach them to your fence or house. Position surfboards in your party space.

Food As A Decoration

Use party food as part of your decoration. Pineapples make nice table centerpieces. Or create a fresh fruit tower, and use it as a centerpiece. Let guests use toothpicks to select their fruit. You also can create fresh fruit skewers as appetizers.
