Hawaiian Leis
As children grows into the tween years, their taste in entertainment changes. Their friends become increasingly more important and parties become more frequent. Holding a Hawaiian theme party for your tween for no special occasion is a festive way for friends get together. Does this Spark an idea?
Dancing
Tween's high energy is often focused into dancing. Typically, this dancing is related to the latest music on the radio, but can be focused into a Hawaiian theme.
This party theme requires space. If clearing out a room in your house will not provide enough open area, rental space may be necessary. Videos played on a large screen television may provide for the instruction, or hiring a personal instructor is an option. Learning to do the Hula can take hours of your tween and her friends time. More advanced Hawaiian dances might also be attempted for the party.
Scheduling a lesson at a local dance studio is also an option. The party can center around the lesson, with eating or other activities before and after.
Luau
As for an adult party, a Luau can be toned down for tweens. The traditional roasted pig can be exchanged for a pineapple covered ham. Cut-up tropical fruits including guava and mango can be served to accompany the meal. Sweetened breads might round out the meal. The decorations for the table will play a big part in making this party theme a success. Brightly colored table cloths laid out or silk tropical flowers placed around serving dishes will add to the theme. Whole pineapples placed on either side of your ham will assist in the Hawaiian feel. Providing your guests with leis can help set the tone.
Dress-Up for Her
While tween girls are growing up and their tastes are changing quickly, dress-up and play are still acceptable concepts. Providing Hawaiian style clothing including flowered shirts and board shorts along with grass skirts and bikini type tops will make for hours of entertainment. Leis and large silk tropical flowers to be placed in the hair should be provided along with spray tanning products and basic hair and make-up supplies.
Tropical Drinks for Summer
For a summer time Hawaiian theme party, get out the blender or slush maker. Providing tropical fruits including pineapple and guava along with ice can entertain tweens for hours. Let them make their own concoctions and use small glasses so they can make multiple drinks. Umbrellas and other drink decorations purchased from local party stores will add a tropical feeling along with providing leis for all the guests.
