Old bottles create fun invitations for your party.
An "Under the Sea" party brings together water, animals and even plants found in the water. This type of party is appropriate for all ages, including kids and adults. Using generic invitations for the party is a disappointment because it doesn't tell your guests the theme of the party. Using "Under the Sea" party invitations gives your guest an idea of what to expect at the party, and it doesn't take long to create the invites yourself. Does this Spark an idea?
Message in a Bottle
Old glass bottles become a party invitation, when mixed with the right items. You need bottles with a screw-on cap, or you'll need to find cork pieces to seal off the inside of the bottle. Fill the inside with a handful of sand, plastic animals, shells or plastic pieces of seaweed and fake flowers. Look for small items that remind you of the ocean. Create basic fliers that serve as the invitation for the party and print out the invitations from your home computer. Roll each sheet of paper, making the invitations small enough to fit through the opening at the top of the bottle. A small piece of ribbon tied around the invitation, makes it easier for your guests to reach it. Keep the end of the ribbon hanging out of the bottle and place the lid on top. Or simply cap the bottle, wrap the invitation around the bottle and glue in place.
Fishbowl Invitations
Fishbowl invitations are best suited for parties where you plan on passing out the invitations at school or another location because the bowls are difficult to mail. Use old-fashioned looking plastic fishbowls and layer a small amount of sand on the bottom. Make small signs that detail the party information, including date, time and location. Glue signs to pipe cleaners and then tuck underneath the sand. Crumbled tissue paper placed inside the bowls mimics the look of water.
Decorate a Frame
Use a plain picture frame as an invitation to the Under the Sea party. Print invitations from home and find picture frames roughly the same size as the invitations. Slide the invitations inside and then decorate the outside of the frames. Craft stores sell a large number of small crafting supplies, perfect for the frames, including seashells, fake flowers, buckets and sand toys. A hot glue gun is strong enough to hold the items on the frames and keep them from falling off.
