Wedding Shower Invitation Ideas

Customize the wedding shower decoration by adding colors or designs the bride will love.

The bridal shower is one of the last celebrations that the bride-to-be will attend as a single woman. If you're in charge of making sure her bridal shower is as memorable as she would like, you can start by putting together attractive invitations that will give the guests a good indication of the wonderful time they'll have. Does this Spark an idea?

Flower Invitations

Write the details of the wedding shower on a small card, and attach the card to a single rose or lily to be presented to the shower guests. Be sure that the invitations are in the colors that the bride has selected for her wedding or specifically for the shower. Alternatively, use invitations shaped as flowers, and write the details for the bridal shower in formal or cursive print on the back of the paper. Purchase floral scented paper or lightly mist the invitations with the bride's favorite floral scent, so that the invitation gives off the fragrance of the flower it's shaped as.

Wedding Item Invitations

Use small replicas of the things you know the bride will be including in her wedding to create invitations. For example, to create an elegant invitation guests are sure to save, you could purchase small satin pillows (resembling the one the ring bearer will hold) from a local craft store, and hot-glue or pin heavy invitation paper to the pillows. Or you could cut out small squares of tulle or chiffon to resemble a veil, and add small flowers or sequins to the fabric. Place the fabric squares over tan- or cream-colored invitations, so it seems as if guests are lifting a veil to read the invitation as the veil is lifted to reveal the bride.

Favorite Things Invitations

Invitations that evoke the bride-to-be's favorite things are a fun way to inform guests about the upcoming bridal shower. For example, the invitations could be shaped as the type of shoes the bride loves to wear. Square- or rectangular-shaped invitations featuring the bride's favorite color in the font or border are simple and elegant. An invitation could also depict the bride's favorite place or time of year. Use square invitation paper and add white glitter to depict snow if the shower and wedding will be in the winter, or cut out small pieces of fabric to resemble a bikini and glue the fabric to the front of an invitation for a shower that will take place poolside or at the beach.

Photo Invitations

Use a candid photo of the bride-to-be or a picture of the guest of honor with her friends and family as the backdrop for her wedding shower invitation. Convert the photo to black and white, so that you can use colored font for the invitation details. A photo of the bride's hand with her wedding ring featured also makes a great photo for bridal shower invitations.
