There are lots of things to do with kids in Hawaii.
Hawaii has lots to offer--and not just for adults. Kids too can have a blast while visiting these incredible islands. From Hawaii's natural wonders--including volcanoes, canyons and bays--to Chinatown or the Polynesian Cultural Center, there's something for everyone of every age in Hawaii.
Nature's Wonders
It would be a shame for the kids to visit Hawaii without marveling at the island chain's natural wonders--of which there are many. The island of Kauai boasts the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific," Waimea Canyon, which descends 3,500 feet. Oahu's Hanauma Bay offers some of the best snorkeling anywhere in the world, while Maui's Haleakala Crater stuns visitors with its sheer size and alien landscape. Don't miss the Big Island's Volcanoes National Park or Mauna Kea, the world's largest sea mountain.
Chinatown
The kids are sure to love Honolulu's very own Chinatown. As you walk the streets of Chinatown, along with the historic buildings and myriad temples, you'll see noodles actually being made. Walk through one of several markets--during the day or at night--and let your kids choose from the many interesting foods available there. Chinatown also boasts many restaurants that the kids may enjoy.
Polynesian Cultural Center
Visit the grand Polynesian Cultural Center, located on the island of Oahu. The center is really more of a giant park, boasting "villages" representing eight different island cultures, including Hawaiian, Samoan, Tahitian and Tongan. Attend the Center's daily showing of "Rainbows of Paradise," a live water-borne show performed aboard canoes, or let the kids enjoy one of several features on the Center's massive IMAX screen. The kids might especially enjoy learning throw a spear, walk on fire, carve in wood and tiki, perform the haka dance or cook in a fire pit, among many other lessons.
