Things To Do In Maui On A Budget

Seven Sacred Pools

Tourists often travel to Maui because of its sandy beaches, beautiful sunrises over Haleakala National Park, whale sightings, or authentic luaus. Tourists can see most of these attractions very affordably, leaving them the money to splurge for one special activity.

Free Activities

Most tourists spend at least part of their vacation sun-bathing on the beach. On the west side of Maui, tourists often head to Little Beach for picnicking, bodysurfing, skinny dipping, and viewing the sunset over the Mokloni Crater.

Other visitors may prefer driving Road to Hana to explore its' natural beauty, including overflowing waterfalls and black sand beaches. Visitors should consider getting an early start and bring along a cooler full of sandwiches of drinks for lunch, because it takes several hours to exploring the winding road. They may also wish to stop by the Seven Sacred Pools, located about 40 minutes past Hana. The pools were created by the Pipiwai stream and forms several pools and waterfalls when it meets the oceans, and it is fun to swim in when the weather is ideal.

Visitors often stroll around Lahaina Town, visiting the historical buildings or seeing what vendors are selling at Art in the Park. They will want to get some photos of Banyan Tree Park since the tree shades almost an entire acre and is a remarkable sight.

Cheap Activities

If visitors travel to Maui during December through April, they should schedule a whale watching tour. They can go on two hour whale watching tour for around $25 an adult and $15 a child. They guarantee that visitors will see whales, sometimes within 100 feet of the boat, or they get to take the tour again for free.

Other tourists may wish to try snorkeling. They can rent their gear at Snorkel Bob's for $9 a person, and then they may wish to dive at Honolua Bay, where they can view several species of marine life.

Some visitors wake up early to view the sunrise over Haleakala National Park. The park charges $10 per a car, and vehicle pass lasts for up to three days. Visitors may hike to view the upper pools, bamboo forests, and waterfalls.

The Splurge

While in Maui, even while on a budget, visitors should splurge and attend an authentic Hawaiian luau. They may wish to the Old Lahaina Luau, which treats guests to Hawaiian dances and crafts while they dine on authentic cuisine of baked Mahi Mahi, lomi lomi salmon, sweet potatoes, and in-season fruit. Guests will be amazed as they watch the entertainers' hula dance and chant traditional songs.
