Going to Disney World in Florida, whether you're traveling with adults or children, may seem like an exciting yet overwhelming task. To make the most of your trip, it helps to consider some tips regarding everything from accommodations to standing in lines. Adhering to some advice can help you make the most of your trip while avoiding as many potential problems as possible.
Get a Multi-Day Pass
Buying individual tickets to each park could total up to quite a bit of money, especially if you're paying for several people. There are quite a few ticket options available for purchase in different increments or days and according to age, so avoid paying more than necessary. If you live in Florida, take advantage of the special discounts for residents. Carefully calculate, review and weigh the pros and cons of each option before purchasing.
Go in the Off-Season
During peak season, you may end up spending much more and enduring more headaches and problems than if you go during the low season. When kids are in school is the best time of year to go and when they are on vacation can be the most problematic. One of the best times to go to Disney World is typically during the first few weeks of December and one of the worst is usually during the summer. During peak times, you may find longer lines, higher prices and huge crowds. The off-season may allow for a speedier and more enjoyable trip through the parks.
Skip the Expensive, Upscale Hotels
Although the upscale hotels are nice, they're also expensive and chances are you're not going to be in it very long. You're probably going to be walking around Disney World's parks all day and by the time you get back to the hotel, it's likely that you'll just want to sleep. Consider staying in a good hotel that's more reasonably priced and preferably located close to Disney World.
Participate in a Disney Character Breakfast
If you're going with children, they may want to try to get pictures and autographs from their favorite characters, which means stopping several times throughout the park to do so. Doing the character breakfast in the first day or two of your trip will provide the opportunity to have breakfast and allow your child to get autographs and pictures from many characters all in one place. Reservations are required; book it as early as possible to prevent it being at capacity.
Use a Stroller
If you're traveling with kids, especially during warm weather, they're likely to get tired, cranky and not want to keep walking, which means you may end up carrying them. Skip the hassle from the beginning and bring a stroller or rent one there. The stroller is also handy for hanging bags so you don't have to carry them.
Check Height Requirements
Although they have height requirements posted at the front of the ride and sometimes at the very beginning where the line typically starts, you may forget to check them to know if your child meets those requirements. Also, if the line is incredibly long, you could be standing in line quite a while before getting to the start point where the information is posted. When arriving at each ride, check the requirements first before getting in line so you don't waste time only to find out your child can't go on.
