Teachers, coaches and volunteers are critical to the development of children.
Teachers play such an important role in the lives of children that a teacher appreciation luncheon is a small but meaningful way to recognize their efforts. Kids develop special relationships with teachers who have an impact on their performance or motivation, and a teacher appreciation luncheon is a good opportunity to thank them personally. Does this Spark an idea?
Seniors Appreciate Teachers
At this luncheon, teachers and senior students are the participants. The seniors are encouraged to volunteer to speak from the heart on how a particular teacher has most helped them through their years in school. Junior students are in charge of setup, preparation, serving and cleanup after the meal. Each succeeding senior class will enjoy the benefits of having the meal taken care of by the current junior class.
Teachers' Lounge Luncheon
Volunteers from each class prepare a teacher appreciation luncheon buffet that is served in the teachers' lounge and is constantly replenished and maintained over a long enough period of time to allow all teachers to enjoy it. The lounge is decorated early on the morning of the luncheon with a large banner that has circulated around the school so every student has had a chance to sign it. Cards from students to teachers who have provided assistance or deserve special appreciation are taped to the walls.
Teachers' Picnic Luncheon
The student council coordinates the students in each class to assemble a picnic basket. On the chosen morning, every teacher is presented a basket containing at least a bakery item, cheese, an apple and gourmet cookies. Each class has the option of adding other nonperishable foods or small gifts such as sunglasses, candy bars or prank gifts. The baskets also contain personal messages from students who wish to include them.
