Create an exciting slumber party for your teen's birthday.
If you're planning a sleepover for your teen's birthday, be sure to have plenty of fascinating ideas ready for the party guests. From decorations to invitations to activities, use your imagination to plan a memorable slumber party for your teen her friends are sure to envy. Does this Spark an idea?
Invitations
Make the pillow invitations using pieces of scrap fabric. Fold a piece of fabric in half and sew or staple the outside edges, leaving one edge open. Write the invitation on an index card with all your party details. Be sure to include the party time, date, what to bring and what time the parents should pick the teen up the next morning. Write, "What giggles, stays up all night and has several legs? My sleepover birthday party and you are invited" on the invitation. Fold the invitation and place it inside the fabric "pillow." Stuff with a few cotton balls and sew or staple the rest of the fabric closed. Hand deliver each pillow invitation to your party guests.
Food
Give each teen a small amount of pizza dough so she can make her own pizza. Place a bowl of tomato sauce on the table. Also, put out several bowls of toppings, such as hamburger meat, pepperonis, cheese, pineapple chunks, ham mushrooms and peppers. If the teens watch movies, set up a "concession stand" where they can load up plates with candy, popcorn and pickles. Make large pitchers or tea and lemonade for the party guests to drink. Other snack items to serve at a sleepover include pretzels, nuts, chips and mints.
Crafts
Purchase several white pillowcases and give each teen one to decorate. Place several fabric markers and glitter pens on the table for the guest to use. The teens can take home their pillowcases as a party favor and a reminder of the fun they had. Tell the teens to sign each other's pillowcases. Another craft idea for the teens is T-shirts or tank tops. The teens can use the fabric markers and glitter pens to create their own shirts to take home.
Games
Create a marshmallow relay for the teens to play using large marshmallows and toothpicks. Divide the teens into two groups and have them stand in a straight line. Give the first teen in each line a large marshmallow and tell her to put it on the toothpick. When you say, "Go," she must put the toothpick in her mouth and try to pass the marshmallow onto the toothpick of the next player on her team. The first team to pass the marshmallow all the way down their line without using their hands wins the game. For an outdoor game, hide several pieces of candy outside and give each teen a flashlight. Have the teens go outside and see who can find the most pieces of candy.
