Appetizers
Top slices of toasted bread with a mixture of diced tomatoes, garlic, red onion and fresh basil.
Baby showers typically last an average of three hours. Therefore, offer your guests an array of appetizers or finger foods. Deviled eggs, mini sandwiches, stuffed mushrooms, dips, bruschetta or even some mini quiches, are great grab and go snacks. Better yet, they are easy to prepare and are the perfect size to satisfy hunger, but not overfill.
Salads
Salads are a convenient choice, as most of them can be made the night before and refrigerated till needed.
Salads are a great way to feed a crowd. Choose two or three selections, depending on the number of guests. Some of the more popular salad selections include potato salad, macaroni salad, tomato and mozzarella salad, coleslaw and ambrosia salad. Even a simple Caesar or garden salad is suitable.
Fruits and Veggies
A fruit and cheese tray and/or a veggie tray with dip is a staple for entertaining large groups of people. You can assemble fruit and/or veggie trays yourself, however if you are short on time, you can also pick one up at a nearby grocery store.
Desserts
A congratulations cake is typically the centerpiece at any shower, surrounded by a multitude of cakes, cupcakes, cookies and other delicious sweets such as sugar cookies, brownies, pies and cheesecakes. Don't be afraid to get creative with these options as well. For example, when it comes to the sugar cookies, purchase a cookie cutter in the shape of a bottle, onesie, pacifier or something babyish. Once the cookies are baked and cooled, decorate them with some colored icing. Turn plain brownies into brownie bites by pouring the batter into a mini muffin tin rather than a traditional bake pan.
