Water Slide Parks In The Hawaiian Islands

Hawaii's beaches are a big attraction, but visitors do have the option for water sliding as well.

More than 6 million tourists land in Hawaii every year, eager to enjoy the state's mild weather and countless beaches. While the ocean is a major attraction, some people also enjoy hitting the swimming pools and water slides on their vacation. While Hawaii only has one major water park, a number of hotels also satisfy people's desire to splash and slide.

Wet 'n' Wild

Wet 'n' Wild is the only large-scale water slide park in the Hawaiian islands. Some of the big attractions at this park include two seven-story water slides, among a handful of other high-flying attractions for thrill-seekers. The park, located on the north side of Oahu, about 35 miles from Honolulu, also features a wave pool, lazy river, and a mini adventure park for smaller guests. The park also features volleyball courts and boogie boarding lessons. Outside food and drink is not allowed, so be prepared to buy supplies at the park's cafes. Wet 'n' Wild was formerly called Hawaiian Waters.

Hilton Waikoloa Village

While certainly not the seven-story type of water slide park, the Hilton Waikoloa on the Big Island of Hawaii offers several water slides and waterfalls at its large pool complex. Smaller kids will enjoy shorter slides, while older kids will enjoy the water park designed specifically for kids older than 5. The hotel also has a private lagoon and beach. Pools and slides are for use by guests only, so you'll need to book a room at the Waikoloa to enjoy the water features.

Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa

This hotel and its accompanying pools and water slides are the favorite for families on the island of Maui. The hotel's water complex, called "Wailele," or "flowing water," features a children's pool area with water slides and waterfalls. Parents, meanwhile, will enjoy several serenity pools geared toward adults, with views of the surrounding islands.
