Simple Ideas For My 8 Year Old Pirate Themed Party

Pirate Party Ideas

Pirate parties are one of the most popular themed party ideas for young children. They love the fantasy world of hidden treasures and daring voyages across the sea. Pirate parties are fairly easy to plan with simple, yet fun, costumes, food and drink, favors and activities. Does this Spark an idea?

Pirate Party Invitation Ideas

Invitations give the first impression of your party. Use a fun and creatively decorated one to get your young guests excited. Some invitation ideas for a pirate party include putting all the party information on a treasure map, a message in a bottle or a pirate flag complete with skull and crossbones. Use a fancy font for a pirate vibe, and don't forget to include the location and time of the party.

Have your child make up pirate names for each of their guests, such as swashbuckling Sam or dog-eyed Dinah. Address the invitations to the made-up names, and then use them during the party.

Pirate Favor and Costume Ideas

Pirate costumes are pretty easy to find at party supply stores. They are also simple to throw together using normal clothes. Guests can look up pirates online and mimic their clothing styles.

At the party, have eye patches, pirate bandannas and fake earrings available for guests to wear and to take home as favors. Stuffed parrots, maps, swords, scull and crossbones necklaces or any other pirate-related items make good favors.

Pirate Party Food and Drink Ideas

Turn normal party food into pirate food, with fish-shaped crackers and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches cut with fish shaped cookie cutters.

For a drink, serve sprite with red ice cubes, and call it shark blood punch. Make the ice cubes by freezing a red tropical punch drink in ice trays the night before the party.

For dessert, order a pirate-themed cake. These can be made in the shape of pirate hats, ships or treasure chests.

Pirate Party Activities

You cannot have a pirate party without a treasure hunt. Split the party guests into two teams. Have them pick a group name. Then, give them each clues and a treasure map that lead to hidden treasure. Candies and small toys are great items to add to a hidden treasure lot. Make sure there is enough for all the guests, not just the group that finds it.
