Mickey & Minnie Mouse Party Ideas

Mickey & Minnie Mouse Party Ideas

Mickey and Minnie Mouse, traditional Disney characters, made their first appearance in the 1928 Walt Disney production Steamboat Willie. Since then, these two charming cartoon mice have been molded into the Mickey and Minnie we know today. Mickey and Minnie Mouse remain popular character choices for children's birthday party themes. Does this Spark an idea?

Invitations

Create your own invitations using black card-stock or construction paper. Make a pattern on a scrap piece of paper or card-stock. Create the shape of Mickey or Minnie's head by tracing around a plate or large can and two smaller cans to create the ears. Add a pink bow to create Minnie. Use a gel pen to write the text for your invitation. Fold the bottom half of the large circle up toward the ears to create the appearance of the traditional Mickey Mouse hat.

Decorations

Purchase Mickey and Minnie Mouse themed balloons, tableware and party favors from most party supply stores. Create custom party decor by making Mickey and Minnie life-size wall art using poster-board, paints and markers. Create your own custom streamers by using a Mickey or Minnie rubber stamp on them. Have your child join in the decorating process by creating Mickey- and Minnie-inspired artwork to decorate the walls, ceiling and tables in your party space.

Party Activities

Customize traditional party games to fit the Mickey and Minnie Mouse theme. Switch out pin the tail on the donkey for pin the ears on Mickey or Minnie. Purchase a Mickey- or Minnie-themed pinata from a party supply store, or create your own out of balloons and paper mache. Younger children would enjoy themed coloring pages; use this as an activity during the party or give them out for a take-home party favor.

Party Food

Have Mickey Mouse cookie cutters available during your party preparations. Use them to make cut-out cookies, Mickey-shaped sandwiches or Jello Jigglers. Place traditional party snacks, such as fruit and chips, in round bowls and arrange them to form Mickey's head and ears. Create Mickey and Minnie cupcakes by covering each cupcake with white frosting. Pull apart regular and miniature Oreo cookies, remove the white filling. Top each cupcake with one large Oreo wafer and two miniature Oreo wafers. Add a small red-colored candy for the bow on Minnie Mouse cupcakes.

Party Favors

Sending your party guests home with a fun-filled party favor bag is a nice way to say thank you. Include items such as Mickey and Minnie trinkets from party supply stores, coloring pages, crayons, stickers and bubbles. If you cannot find themed items, you can customize your party favors with Mickey- and Minnie-themed stickers.
