Small Islands In Hawaii With Hotels

The Hawaiian Islands are made up of eight major islands, atolls and smaller islets that comprise one of the states in the U.S. Most people gravitate to Oahu, the island of Hawaii or Maui for a vacation, but discerning travelers find accommodations on some of the smaller islands like Kauai, Molokai or Lanai.


Kauai Beach Resort


This resort in on a three-mile stretch of beach that is referred to as the Coconut Coast in eastern Kauai and a few minutes away from the restaurants, shops and entertainment of Lihue. Occupying 20 acres on the Kauai's south shore along Poipu Beach, the Sheraton Kauai Resort has been lauded as America's best beach by the Travel Channel. You can dine while overlooking the Pacific Ocean at Shells Steak and Seafood restaurant and order you choice of beverage at The Point Bar. This resort has a host of amenities, including a well-equipped fitness center, a spa, tennis courts and an 18-hole championship golf course is close by. Your accommodations will have numerous amenities, including a patented Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Bed.


Aqua Hotel Molokai


The Aqua Hotel Molokai is the only hotel on this island, and the bungalows are located right on the ocean. Your accommodations will have many amenities, including Internet access, for which there is a charge daily and a refrigerator. Take a trip through the Kalaupapa National Historic Park and tour the Molokai Museum & Cultural Center, both near the hotel. Get a rubdown or a facial at the spa and eat at the Hula Shores Restaurant & Bar, which is poolside overlooking the Pacific Ocean.


Hotel Lanai


This hotel, situated on the island of Lanai, was built for Dole Plantation executives by James Dole in 1923. It's small by most standards in that it has only 11 rooms along with a common area and a restaurant, Lanai City Grill, that's open from Wednesdays through Sunday. The hotel also has a store, Opal's, that sells genuine articles from the Hawaiian islands. Bring your golf clubs and play The Challenge at Manele, which is close to the hotel. You can also take snorkeling lessons, go hiking or visit the Hawaiian Cultural Center in Lanai. The hotel serves a complimentary continental breakfast daily. Your room will have a ceiling fan and a combination refrigerator and freezer.
