Themes for senior citizen parties should be more understated.
Senior citizens might not have the same interests and tastes as younger people, but many still enjoy parties that come with a theme. Themes add opportunities for party guests to dress up, reminisce, role play and become more engaged in the party itself. Pick a theme that guests can relate to and find appropriate. Does this Spark an idea?
Fountain of Youth
A party themed to fountain of youth will celebrate the guests' long life and toast to their continued good health and vibrancy.
Decorate with bright and vibrant colors to represent the vivacity and cheerfulness of life and the joy of being young in spirit. Use fountains to provide food and refreshments. Have a chocolate fountain for dipping treats into, as well as a punch fountain. Play lively music. Ask guests to bring in a baby picture of themselves. Mount the photos on a wall and ask guests to vote on who they think the childhood photos belong to.
Bingo
Bingo is a popular activity among senior citizens. Adapt the bingo theme into a party. Model the party invitations after bingo cards, writing out the party details using the bingo card squares. Assign each guest a "bingo" number as they enter the party. Have an MC, host or DJ announce numbers randomly throughout the evening. Winning guests receive a prize when their number is called. Decorate a cake to resemble a bingo card and ice cupcakes to look like the numbered bingo balls.
Old Hollywood
Choose a vintage movie such as "Gone with the Wind" or sitcom such as "I Love Lucy" as your party theme or simply choose "Old Hollywood" as a general theme. Ask party guests to come dressed as their favorite stars from the selected movie, television show or from the "Old Hollywood" era. Choose a range of years if going with the broad "Old Hollywood" theme, such as 1930 through 1950. Decorate with posters from the era and from vintage movies and television shows.
