There are few things more glamorous than the red carpet. Make your teenage girl and all her friends feel like Hollywood royalty by having a red carpet outside the entrance of the ballroom or club to her party. Arrange for photographers to stand outside the entrance to the party and snap lots of photographs of guests as they arrive. Hang a large screen on one of the walls and project various clips of Oscar ceremonies and acceptance speeches. Hire a professional caterer who regularly works for star-studded events, such as Wolfgang Puck. A red carpet or Oscar-shaped cake and a sparkling cider fountain will complete the evening.

Audrey Hepburn is such a famous icon for women and young girls alike, and the film "Breakfast at Tiffany's" continues to endure, making it an appropriate theme for a sweet 16 party. Have your guests dress in little black dresses with pearls and long black gloves. Silently screen the film over and over on a screen or large flat screen television for atmosphere at the venue. Play songs from the film such as "Moon River" and try to decorate the inside of the venue so it looks sleek and elegant like the inside of a jewelry store. Display faux pieces of jewelry behind glass for added effect. Give each guest the novel "Breakfast at Tiffany's" by Truman Capote as a gift.
1950's Sweet 16
A retro 1950s party is suitable for the teenager who likes to dress up and would like to celebrate her birthday in a fashion that blasts straight from the past. Tell all the guest to come dressed in poodle skirts or leather jackets and jeans. Play famous music from the '50s, such as Bill Haley & His Comets, Elvis Presley, Rosemary Clooney and Bing Crosby, straight from a jukebox. Have a soda fountain in one corner of the room to make floats and milkshakes. Serve everyone burgers, fries and hot dogs. For added ambiance, screen films of the 1950s without sound on a large screen such as "On the Waterfront," "Sunset Boulevard" or "Rear Window."
