Sponge Bob Activities In An Elementary Classroom

Keep kids involved with SpongeBob activities.

Children love SpongeBob, so any game or activity that involves this lovable character will keep them engaged for awhile. Allow the children to be creative when making SpongeBob projects and to pretend they are underwater if they'd like.

Puppets

Make a puppet out of a brown lunch bag.

Using brown paper bags, each child can create her own puppet. Either photocopy SpongeBob images and let the children color them in, or cut out squares from yellow construction paper and let them draw their own versions of SpongeBob. Now you can let the kids have a puppet show. You can even give them the option of being other characters from the show.

Cereal Box SpongeBob

A cereal box is the perfect shape to create their very own Spongebob to take home.

Take the empty cereal box and paint it yellow with spongy brushes. Glue googly eyes and circles cut from brown construction paper on to the yellow square. Brown and white paper should be cut out and glued to the bottom for his shirt and pants. Pipe cleaners can be used for arms and legs. Let each child color his own SpongeBob the way he likes and make sure he puts his name on it.

Spongebob T-shirts

Take an ordinary T-shirt and create personalized SpongeBob T-shirts!

Using a yellow T-shirt will be best for this project. Buy different colors of puffy fabric paint and fabric markers. Let each child create her own SpongeBob by painting and drawing the facial features on to the yellow shirt. Don't forget the spongy holes (brown spots). Remember to write each child's name on the shirt.

Jellyfishing

Real jellyfish are dangerous, but not in this game.

For this activity you'll need a fairly large fan, pink tissue paper or crepe streamers, scissors, and each child will need some kind of fishing "net." Cut out circles from the tissue/crepe paper. Turn on the fan to face the children. Throw a few of the tissue paper "jellyfish" and let the children have fun catching them!
