Retiring is something that many people look forward to. It's the end of one chapter of your life and the start of the time in your life when you can enjoy the fruits of your labor. Many companies, or family and friends, host retirement parties for the lucky dog leaving the work world. A retirement party can be an ideal way to wish the retiree luck for the future and celebrate his new life.
Retirement Roast
Host a roast for the retiree. Invite family, friends, and workmates to take turns standing up and taking humorous stabs at the retiree. A retirement roast is a great way to share memories in a way that can make party guests laugh. After poking fun at the retiree with your roast, be sure to say something serious and heartfelt in conclusion.
Old and Useless Party
Host a party and ask guests to bring items that are old and useless as gifts for the retiree. It's fun to see what kind of gifts the retiree ends up with. Be cautious about the retiree's state of mind or sense of humor for this type of party. Not all people retiring will enjoy this theme, and some may not see the humor in it.
Career Memories
Use a large box or glass jar and have party guests fill it with cards on which are written some of their fondest work-related memories about the retiree. During the party, guests randomly pull out a card and read it out loud. Let the retiree guess who wrote the memory. These cards with their memories are something the guest of honor can take home.
