Tea Party Name Tag Ideas

Guests at a tea party can wear tea-themed name tags.

Any sort of party, from a birthday party to a bridal shower or even a children's party can have a tea party theme. If guests at a tea party do not know each other, provide tea-themed name tags for everybody. To allow guests to wear their name tags, either tie a ribbon around the tag so it can be worn around the neck or hot glue a bar pin on the back so the name tag can be pinned to clothing. Does this Spark an idea?

Tea Bags

Make fragrant tea bag name tags for the guests at a formal tea party. Cut 5-inch squares of muslin or cheesecloth and spread a thin layer of mildly fragrant potpourri in a strip along the middle. Fold each edge in over the potpourri and then fold the thin strip in half to make a small rectangle the size of a tea bag. Fold each of the top corners in toward each other, fold over the top point just created, include the end of a 3-inch string and staple the tea bag closed. Staple the other end of the string to a piece of paper with the guest's name written on it.

Tea Boxes

For more informal tea parties, let guests make their own name tags on a piece of the box for their favorite type of tea. To prepare the name tags, cut a variety of types of cardboard tea boxes into panels about 4-inches-by-3-inches. Discard unattractive panels, such as the ones with the nutrition facts and ingredients. Glue a 2-inch-by-1-inch strip of paper in the center of each box panel to give guests somewhere to write their names.

Miniature Fans

Because China is the largest producer of tea, a tea party name tag could be a miniature Chinese fan. Fold a square of paper with a delicate print in light colors into an accordion-style fan and staple the bottom together to hold the fan shape. Write each guest's name on the fan near the top edge, with a letter in every other panel.

Teapots

For a very simple tea party name tag, just trace the outline of a teapot onto a plain white name tag sticker. Print out a teapot shape onto thick card stock and cut it out to use as a stencil when tracing. If desired, decorate the background of the name tag behind the teapot with patterns such as crosshatch lines, polka dots or hand-drawn flowers.
