Monkey Cake Instructions

Cinnamon plays a major role in monkey bread's flavor and aroma.

Monkey cake, also known as monkey bread, is that ooey gooey, cinnamony sweet classic that kids love. Not only does it satisfy the sweet tooth, but it's easy to make and they can pull it apart with their sticky little hands. You can find monkey cake as a boxed mix complete with easy-to-follow directions, but a semi-homemade version is just as easy to make with refrigerated biscuits, a stick of butter and a few pantry staples. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Butter a Bundt pan and set it aside. Combine sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and also set that aside. Preheat oven to 350 F.

2. Remove biscuits from packaging and cut each roll into four pieces. Roll each piece in the sugar-cinnamon mixture and place it into the Bundt pan.

3. Combine the remaining sugar-cinnamon mixture (there should be about 1/2 cup left) with 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1 cup (two sticks) of butter in a small saucepan. Bring the mixture to barely boiling. Remove from heat immediately and drizzle over the biscuit pieces.

4. Bake at 350 F for 30 minutes. Allow to cool upright and then tip pan upside down onto a plate. To eat, pull apart.
