Party Games For Senior Adults

When hosting a party for senior adults, it's a good idea to have some games prepared that are suited to their interests and abilities, and that will provide an easy way for the group to socialize and have some fun. Of the seemingly endless list of party games, there are at least a few that you can feel confident will appeal to many senior adults. Giving out little gifts to the winners--or raffle tickets for a few nice gifts you'll award when all the games are done--adds a bit of delight and additional competitive spirit to the games. Does this Spark an idea?

Picture Matching

Have all the guests bring pictures from their childhood or young adulthood, and place them on a table. Once everyone has arrived and placed their pictures, the group can start trying to match them to their owners. Giving out little gifts for the first and most correct guesses adds a bit of delight to the activity.

Bingo

Set up a bingo game for your guests but, rather than using numbers, try using words that relate to the era in which your guests grew up. Some ideas include popular movie titles, singers, hairstyles and song titles. Print these words on bingo cards at random, and also have each word or phrase on a piece of paper in a hat. Pick one word or phrase from the hat at a time and read it out to your guests. Those who have that word or phrase on their bingo cards can cross it off. The winner is the first person to create a bingo pattern on his card. Typical bingo patterns are five numbers in a row across the card, either diagonally, horizontally or vertically.

Trivia

Split your guests into at least three groups of equal number. Read out trivia questions relating to past decades and have each team write its answer on a piece of paper without calling it out. When you have finished all the questions, collect each team's answer sheet and award one point for each correct answer. The team with the most correct answers is the winner.

Name That Tune

Play a selection of old songs and have each guest write down the title on a piece of paper until you're done. The best tune-namer wins.
