Multiplayer Games That You Can Play Against Other Human Players

Thanks to the emphasis on motion-controlled gaming despite online gaming's considerable popularity, "social gaming" remains a vital form of entertainment, providing great company and "memories" for players to enjoy for years. Many multiplayer games exist, some panning many genres and play-styles. The Nintendo Wii hosts many of these games, some remaining compatible with the Nintendo GameCube.

Mario Party

A virtual board game featuring the Mario series characters, Mario Party allows up to four players to engage in fast and fun gameplay on six unique "game boards." Randomly chosen mini-games set the stage where you and your friends must battle it out for coins in order to purchase the most "Stars" to win the game. Although eight versions of the game exist, Mario Party 4 through Mario Party 8 remain compatible with the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo GameCube.

Star Fox: Assault

Originally noted for its single-player campaign, Star Fox: Assault has a multiplayer mode. Four players can choose from six characters and several stages pitting you and your friends against one another, using weapons familiar to the game's single-player campaign. Another feature includes the ability to adjust the game rules, such as changing regular "kills" into "instant kills." Star Fox: Assault remains compatible with the Nintendo GameCube and Nintendo Wii.

Wii Sports

A "pack-in" game for the Nintendo Wii console, Wii Sports features simplified versions of golf, bowling, baseball, bowling and tennis, designed for play with the Nintendo Wii remote and nunchuck. You and your friends can use your own "Mii" from the "Mii Channel" to serve as your on-screen character. Wii Sports keeps track of your skill (compared to the computer players) in the form of points, awarding you with "Pro" rank and a special Mii "emblem" if you reach 1,000 points.

Super Monkey Ball

Super Monkey Ball features a "Main," "Party" and "Mini" game mode where up to four players roll their chosen monkey through several dozen courses, three party games and several mini-games, later unlocked after completing the "Main" game. The unique "momentum" based gameplay makes playing each course challenging, keeping you and your friends on the edge as you clear each stage. Super Monkey Ball remains compatible with both Nintendo GameCube and Nintendo Wii.
