New Year'S Party Themes

New Year's Eve parties take place around the world.

New Year's Eve is a great time to have a party as the holiday is celebrated around the world. Fun yet easy to plan parties leave you available to enjoy the party while providing your guests with a good time. There are plenty of low-cost ways to have a fun and festive New Year's Eve. Does this Spark an idea?

Rock Around The Clock

Go retro with a New Year's Eve celebration filled with nostalgia and the Dick Clark "American Bandstand" era. Send out jukebox or 45 rpm vinyl record cutout invitations, which you can purchase from a party store or create yourself. Include ideas for party clothing on invitations such as poodle skirts, saddle shoes, Capri pants and bowling shirts. Create a mixed CD of tunes from the 1950s and 1960s. Search the All Music Guide's historical charts for ideas on songs to include in your mixes. Decorate the party area with 1950s and 1960s themed posters and banners. On the tables, place bowls of classic candy such as NECCO Wafers, Mary Janes and Clark Bars. You can order the candy from online nostalgia candy stores and direct from manufacturers like NECCO. Make sure to turn on the television so guests can watch "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest" at midnight for the Times Square ball drop.

Las Vegas Casino All Night Party

Give your guests a fun evening of gambling with a New Year's Eve casino night. Keep the betting friendly by having the prizes for winning hands limited to gag gifts or fake play money. Rent card tables from an event supply company and decorate them with red and black felt material. Recruit volunteers ahead of time to serve as dealers and provide them with game rules from reputable sources like centuries-old game company Hoyle. Decorate the party area with casino-themed items like dollar signs, dice and playing cards. Make a mixed CD of lounge jazz music to play in the background. Do not forget to pause the games for a toast at midnight to celebrate the New Year.

New Year's Slumber Party

Plan a kid-friendly New Year's Eve slumber party for your children and their friends. Make sure to remind parents to drop their kids off with sleeping bags and pajamas. Recruit other parents to stay over and help manage the party. Purchase party hats, noisemakers, leis, and plastic horns from a discount retailer. You can also create your own ball drop by filling bags with inflated balloons and attaching the bag to a release cord. Have the kids write a time capsule letter before midnight. Tell them to include things like their favorite TV shows, colors and books. Encourage them to make predictions about the coming year. Seal the letters in envelopes and tell them to save them to open the following year on New Year's Eve. Before midnight, make sure each kid has a cup of sparking apple cider for their toast to the New Year. At midnight, pull the release on the ball drop. Afterwards, let the kids set up their sleeping bags in a room with a large television so they can watch movies until they fall asleep.
