A mother-daughter banquet is a good choice for a fund-raising event.
Mother-daughter banquets are events where mothers and daughters celebrate each other and rejuvenate their bond. Banquets can be for mothers with very young daughters, or it can be for mothers with daughters who are teenagers or even adults. An afternoon or evening of food and entertainment helps mothers and daughters create some shared memories that bridge the generational gap. While a mother and daughter banquet is primarily intended for mothers and their daughters, invite family and friends to help celebrate this important bond. Does this Spark an idea?
Silent Auction
A silent auction allows mothers and daughters to purchase gifts for each other and to check out a variety of goods as they do it. Canvas your community for donations of items, and then when the day comes, set up the items on long tables with lined bed sheets next to them. A silent auction is a simple and straightforward way to defray some of the banquet costs while allowing mothers and daughters as well as their guests to do some shopping at the same time.
Slideshow
Send a notice to the mothers and daughters who are coming, asking for mother-daughter photos. Also ask for pictures of the mothers when they were their daughters' age. Scan these images and put them together in a slideshow, interspersing pictures of the mothers and their daughters.
Times Gone By Theme
Look at the general age of the mothers who are going to be attending. Select a decade where most of them were young girls and children and design your mother-daughter banquet around that theme. For example, if you choose a 1970s theme, play Elton John and Barbara Streisand while requesting that the guests wear their best beads and bell-bottoms.
Tea and Sandwiches
For a lighter banquet, ask that everyone dress in their best and serve tea and cucumber sandwiches. Decorate the banquet hall with swags of old lace curtains and make sure that every dish has and a doily underneath it. To add a crafty element to the banquet, set a plain straw hat by every plate and set aside crafts supplies like glue, ribbon and false flowers. After the tea, the ladies can decorate their hats and then model them for the audience.
