Making Invitations On A Computer

Making Invitations on a Computer

If you have an important event coming up, whether it is a birthday, wedding or other party, you will need some type of invitation. You could spend money on boring, impersonal invitations. But why would you, when you can create unique invites using your computer? You can design and produce ideal, one of a kind invitations with all of details you desire. You can even take your pick between using Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft Word.

Instructions

Using Microsoft Publisher

1. Open Microsoft Publisher. In the "New Publication" task pane, under "New from a Design," expand "Publications for Print" by selecting the arrow to the left of it.

2. Click on "Invitation Cards" from the list that drops down. Select the type of event by clicking on the item from the submenu that appears, such as "Holiday Party" or "Shower."

3. Click on the invitation design that you want to use. In the "Invitation Options" task pane, click on "Page Options." Choose which folding style you want to use.

4. Click on "Color Schemes" in the task pane. Choose the color scheme you want to apply to the invitations, if you wish to change it from the default colors. You can also click on "Font Schemes" and change the invitations fonts.

5. Enter the information for your event on all four pages. Click the page numbers in the bottom pane of the Publisher window to navigate through the pages. When you have finished your invitation, save it and print.

Using Microsoft Word

6. Open Microsoft Word. Click "File" on the toolbar, and then click "New."

7. Make sure you have an active Internet connection. In the task pane under "Templates," click "Templates on Office Online." You will be taken to Microsoft.com in your web browser.

8. Scroll down the page under "Template Categories" and click on "Invitations." Under "Browse by Category," choose the type of invitation you want to make.

9. Find an invitation style you like and click on it. Make sure it is compatible with your version or Word. Click the "Download" button. If prompted, click "Yes" to allow ActiveX controls. The Invitation template will open as a new Word document.

10. Add all of the necessary information to the invitations, such as the date, time and location of your party or event. Once the invitation is complete, save and print it.
