Margarita Centerpiece Ideas

A big margarita glass says "party time." Whether you're planning a birthday party, bridal shower or other get-together, your margarita centerpiece will help to create a fun atmosphere. Use your imagination to create a centerpiece in keeping with your party theme, or make it elegant with flowers and ribbons. Does this Spark an idea?

Edible Beach Party Centerpiece

Partially fill 10-inch margarita glass with brown sugar and scatter shell-shaped chocolates on it. Use a large striped lollipop for a beach ball, inserting the stick into the brown sugar in an upright position and packing the brown sugar around the stick to hold it in place. Trim the bottom of the stick if needed so that the lollipop sits on the surface of the brown sugar. Mold people figures from gum paste, using candy molds (available in craft stores or online) and place them on the brown-sugar beach under paper drink umbrellas. Place a liquid-filled wax "straw" in the glass and a candy citrus fruit slice on the rim.

Flower Centerpiece

Partially fill a 10-inch margarita glass with water and add a few drops of red food coloring. Remove the stems from red and white carnations and float them on the water. Trim the stems of two dozen red roses so that the blooms are about an inch above the rim of the glass. Hold the stems of three roses together and wrap them with floral wire. Add three more roses in the spaces between the first three and wrap their stems. Continue adding roses this way until you've added all the roses and have a round bouquet. Rest the bouquet on the rim of the glass. Tie a bow around the stem of the glass with white wired organza ribbon.

You can use other color combinations, such as blue and white carnations floating on blue water, topped with white roses, and a blue bow tied around the stem.

Sand Painting Centerpiece

Layer colored sand in a 10-inch margarita glass. Use primary colors for a birthday party, wedding colors for a bridal shower or reception, silver, black and white for a silver anniversary or gold, brown and white for a golden anniversary. Place the glass on a tray and scatter colored sand around the base of the glass, then add charms, scrapbooking ornaments or other decorations appropriate to the occasion.
