Martha Stewart Birthday Party Ideas For Kids

Martha Stewart is a resource for creative party ideas.

Martha Stewart, maven of interior decorating and home entertaining, became famous for her lists of new and creative updates to everyday home projects and crafts. Her ideas for kids' parties and activities are a hit with parents who are looking for unique party ideas for their child's next bash. Does this Spark an idea?

Spa Party

A spa-themed birthday party is one of Stewart's unique ideas for preteen girls. Centered on a sleepover party, girls can enjoy homemade spa treatments to make them feel like queens. Mail sleep masks with the party invitations, and decorate the party area with pretty garland and beads. Supplies for the spa treatments can be collected in an inexpensive trip to a drugstore and should include manicure and pedicure supplies. Create a face mask from mashed avocado and plain yogurt. Serve light delectables, such as lemon or strawberry cupcakes and health-store-infused smoothies. Each guest should also receive a grab bag with beauty essentials, such as lip gloss, barrettes, bath bubbles and a luffa.

Tiny Party

Stewart's idea for a tiny birthday party is a fun perspective for young boys or girls. Based on the experiences of larger-than-life fairy tale characters such as Gulliver and Alice in Wonderland, this party theme makes little kids feel big. Send a miniature invitation in a large envelope that opens to reveal increasingly smaller envelopes inside. Instead of one large birthday cake, bake several small cakes, decorated to look like their full-sized counterparts. Serve milkshakes from cordial glasses, and serve finger sandwiches made from bread cut into quarters or smaller. Decorate with inch-long banners and streamers. Provide a palm-sized gift bag containing tiny erasers, pads, pens and other toys for each guest.

Wacky Party

Stewart recognizes the need for children to be silly, and a wacky party is a way to celebrate silliness and a birthday at the same time. Create invitations using cutout photos of your child, mixed together so that arms, legs and facial features are of wacky proportions. Give each guest a silly wig and stick-on mustache to wear during the party. Serve meals out of order, starting with cake for lunch, made out of meatloaf, with mashed potato frosting and pea and carrot decoration. The kids will be shocked to have pizza as the dessert, made with strawberry jam, cream cheese frosting, chocolate syrup and fruit slices.
