Luxury Hawaiian Vacation Villas

Visitors to Hawaii can choose among many luxury villa rentals.

The chain of islands that constitute Hawaii became the 50th state of the union in 1959. With its beautiful beaches and warm weather, Hawaii is home to numerous resorts and hotels that cater to annual visitors at a variety of price ranges. High-end vacation villas are available to wealthy visitors seeking a distinctly opulent holiday.

Oahu

Known as the "Heart of Hawaii," Oahu is home to the Hawaiian capital, Honolulu. The island is also home to several luxury rental villas, including the 11,000-square-foot Grand Kailua Beachside. The villa has eight bedrooms and an acre and a half of landscaped gardens. It rents for $15,000 per night, plus a $2,500 cleaning fee. Visitors can also opt for the Sullivan Estate, which has six bedrooms and sleeps up to 12 guests. Located on Oahu's northeastern shore, the villa has 5,700 square feet of living space and is surrounded by five and a half acres of land.

Maui

Nicknamed the "Magic Isle," Maui is a favorite of tourists and has repeatedly been voted the best of Hawaii's islands. The island's waters are also a favorite of humpback whales. Visitors can rent luxury villas like the Wailea Opalessence Estate for anywhere between $7,500 and $10,000 a night. Close to Polo beach, the home has five bedrooms, six and a half baths, a pool and other modern features. Another luxury option on the island is the Empress at Ka`anapali. This villa has over 11,000 square feet of living space and sits right on Ka`anapali beach. With eight bedrooms and nine and a half baths, the home sleeps 12 to 16 people. It rents for between $8,575 and $14,290, depending on the number of guests and the season.

Big Island

As the name suggests, the Big Island is the largest of Hawaii's islands. And it is still growing. The Big Island is home to the world's most active volcanoes and the world's largest sea mountain. Once there, visitors can stay at the Hawaiian Elegance. The ocean-view villa has four bedrooms and four bathrooms and comes with a gourmet kitchen. It also has a heated swimming pool and a separate sauna. Depending on the time of year, Hawaiian Elegance rents for upward of $2,000 per night and sleeps eight people. Another option, the Halenani Estate, sleeps 16 across seven bedrooms. The villa comes with a koi pond, a pool and ocean views.

Lanai

Lanai is Hawaii's smallest inhabited island, with only 30 miles of paved roads and no traffic lights. Visitors with an eye toward a quiet getaway might consider the Lanai Villa. Guests pay between $20,650 and $33,250 for a week's stay, which includes a private concierge and housekeeping. The price includes access to two adjacent Four Seasons resorts: the Lodge at Koele and the Manele Bay Hotel.
