Lychee Liqueur Drinks

Lychee is an exotic fruit similar in texture and taste to grapes.

Lychee liqueur is part of a growing trend which incorporates exotic fruit into alcoholic beverages. Eateries that cater to Pacific and Asian-fusion cooking may serve the liqueur. Lychees are walnut-sized, Chinese fruit with a shell-like exterior and a sweet, white pulpy interior. The pulp is distilled into a liqueur which is said to have a citrus and rose petal taste. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Martini

Make a lychee martini by mixing equal parts of lychee liqueur and vodka and a splash of lychee syrup in a shaker with ice. Strain the cold drink into a martini glass, toss a peeled lychee fruit into the cup for decoration and place a lime twist on the edge of the glass for color.

Lemonade

Prepare refreshing lychee lemonade by combining lychee liqueur, raspberry vodka and lemonade; serve over frozen raspberries for a colorful drink. Or blend frozen lemonade, lychee liqueur and coconut rum together for a frozen drink. Pour the mixture into a glass which has been decorated with colorful sugar.

Mojito

Crush limes, mint leaves and brown sugar together in the bottom of a pitcher. Stir in rum, lychee liqueur, club soda and ice. Pour the mixture into glasses and garnish by placing a lychee on the edge of the glass. You can substitute granulated sugar for the brown sugar; the only difference will be the color of the drink. It will be lighter because you have removed the molasses-colored brown sugar.

Cocktails

Experiment with tropical or exotic fruits to make tasty cocktails. Try mixing pineapple rum and both lychee and strawberry liqueurs with lemon lime soda. Pour into glasses and add strawberry, lychee and pineapple fruit kabobs to complete the drink. Or add lychee liqueur, gin and lemon juice to a shaker filled with ice. Mix well and pour into a glass garnished with candied lemons.
