Tropical Bridal Shower Food Ideas

Treat shower guests to flavors from the Caribbean.

If you're hosting a tropical-inspired bridal shower, design a menu to reflect the theme. Delight guests with fresh, flavorful appetizers, entrees and desserts. Use recipes and cooking techniques from the tropics as inspiration when creating the menu. Include plenty of succulent seafood dishes but provide a few vegetarian options as well to please all guests. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Appetizers

Whet shower guests' appetites for the main course with tasty tropical appetizers. Arrange a selection of finger foods on trays and allow party-goers to mix and mingle while they eat. Serve crispy fried coconut shrimp alongside a sweet and tangy orange marmalade dipping sauce. Serve rich and creamy crab and avocado dip with fresh vegetables, such as carrot and celery sticks, as well as tortilla chips. Delight guests' tastebuds with ceviche, an authentic island dish made by marinading fresh seafood in lemon and lime juices in a refrigerator for several hours. The acids will "cook" the seafood.

Main Courses

Keep the main course light and fresh by incorporating tropical fruit into the recipe. As a healthy and filling meal option, serve grilled sea bass that has been marinated in lime juice, beside a mango, grapefruit and avocado salad; top the salad with a dressing made from white vinegar, grapefruit juice, ginger and fresh mint. As another option, treat guests to a hearty tropical chicken salad featuring grilled white meat, fresh mango and pineapple cubes, mandarin orange slices, shredded coconut and crunchy water chestnuts over greens. Please vegetarians with a tropical black bean and saffron rice dish and a side of plantains.

Desserts

Leave guests with a delicious lasting impression by serving an island-inspired dessert. Make a pineapple upside-down cake or a custard tart topped with fresh mango slices. Other options include key lime pie and mango cheesecake.

Drinks

Quench guests' thirsts by serving icy tropical drinks throughout the shower. You can't go wrong with mango margaritas, pina coladas and mojitos, which are made with lime juice and mint. Be sure to provide plenty of pineapple and orange juice as a non-alcoholic option.
