Resorts On Maui

Maui is home to some of the world's most spectacular sunsets.

Maui is blessed with perfect weather, beautiful shores and some of the world's best resorts. For those who want a resort that offers every amenity, the options on the Valley Isle are plentiful. With many properties garnering the AAA Four and Five Diamond rating, the service, amenities and extras at these island resorts are first-class.

Grand Wailea

The Grand Wailea boasts an amazing array of pools and slides.

In the heart of the upscale Wailea area of Maui lays the Grand Wailea Hotel, Resort and Spa. Located on breathtaking Wailea Beach, this AAA Four-Diamond rating resort truly has it all. As Fodor's describes the resort, "Following a renovation of all rooms in 2008, 'Grand' is no exaggeration for this opulent, sunny, 40-acre resort with elaborate water features such as a 'canyon riverpool' with slides, caves, a Tarzan swing, and a water elevator."

Grand Wailea features guest rooms averaging 640 square feet of room space, exclusive Napua rooms located in a private area with a dedicated concierge, 52 luxurious suites and private villas. The jewel of this resort is the 50,000-square-foot Spa Grande. According to Fodor's,"Spa Grande, also upgraded in 2008, is the island's most comprehensive spa facility, offering everything from mineral baths to massage." The resort also has 11 tennis courts, a fitness center, two golf courses, six restaurants and bars and a camp for children ages 5 to 12.

Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea

Four Seasons is the perfect location to whale watch.

Just next door to the massive Grand Wailea is the luxurious AAA Five Diamond-rated Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea. With 380 upscale guest rooms and suites, this resort boasts every amenity one could imagine. The rooms are top-notch. According to Frommer's, "The spacious (about 600 sq. ft.) guest rooms feature furnished lanais, nearly all with ocean views, that are great for watching whales in winter and sunsets year-round. The grand bathrooms contain deep marble tubs and showers for two."

While the Four Seasons is flanked by two other resorts, it still provides a place for relaxation. The resort features two pools surrounded by cabanas and umbrellas plus unrivaled poolside service. It also boasts a 13-treatment room spa, fitness center, two tennis courts, croquet, water sports, three restaurants and three bars. For those seeking an even more exclusive experience, rooms on the eighth floor of the hotel are part of the Club Lounge accessible only by a private key.

Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa

Hyatt sits on the world-famous Kaanapali Beach.

On the other side of the island, in the busy resort town of Lahaina, is the AAA Four-Diamond Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa. In a Frommer's review of the property, its outdoor grounds are described: "This huge place covers some 40 acres; even if you don't stay here, you might want to walk through the expansive tree-filled atrium and the park-like grounds, which contain a 1/2-acre outdoor pool with a 150-foot lava-tube slide, a cocktail bar under the falls, a 'honeymooners' cave,' and a swinging rope bridge. There's even a kids-only pool with its own beach, tidal pools, and fountains."

The 806-room Hyatt Regency also features four restaurants, five lounges, a nightly hula and torch lighting ceremony, two golf courses and water sports. Its Spa Moana facility covers 20,000 square feet. The real star of this property is its location on the world-famous Kaanapali Beach. Hotel guests can enjoy water sports or simply relax on the tranquil white sand beach.
