Red Themed Party Ideas

Serve red wine at a red-themed party.

Whether you're crazy about the color red or simply want to try throwing a party with an interesting twist, a red-themed party will do the trick. Spice up traditional party elements with splashes of red to make a bright and bold-colored party. Does this Spark an idea?

Costumes

You can't have a truly red-themed party with all of your guests dressed up in different colors. Encourage your guests to dress in red or wear red-based costumes. While a red sports coat may be difficult to find, men can wear red dress shirts and/or red ties. Women can wear red dresses with red lipstick and red shoes. Guests who want to take the red theme even further can dress up as a character typically seen in red, such as Santa Claus, the Devil, Little Red Riding Hood or Elmo.

Food

While red peppers and red velvet cake might not belong together at a regular party, they're perfect for red-themed party food. Offer a variety of foods that are red in color, including everything from beets to pepperoni to cherries. You don't have to only offer food that's red in its original form; mix in red food coloring to make any dish red. Offer a selection of red-colored drinks, such as wine, punch and strawberry milkshakes.

Decor

Red may not be the most popular choice for decor in a home, but a red-themed party allows you to get extreme with your color. Choose a concept for your red-themed party. For example, you can choose to make a heart-themed party and decorate everything with red hearts. Set out a red carpet for your guests to walk on, hang a fake stop sign on the wall and/or blow up some red balloons to create a truly vibrant party.
