In addition to beautiful beaches and shopping that are available year-round, there are many more reasons to visit Maui in December.
Old-Fashoined Holiday Celebration
The celebration takes place at the Banyon Tree Park on Front Street in Lahaina, Maui, on the second Saturday of December.
It is a traditional town celebration including live music, a craft fair, baked goods, children's activities, carolers and a special appearance by Santa.
The Festival of Lights
This festival, which takes place in early December, spans three of the Hawaiian islands.
On Maui you can take in a parade filled with floats, marching bands and of course, Santa Claus.

First Night
The First Night celebration will ring in the new year Hawaiian style. It has been deemed Hawaii's largest festival of the arts and entertainment and includes everything from dancers and musicians to mimes and magicians.
The celebration lasts for 12 hours on Dec. 31 and concludes with fireworks at midnight.
Beaches
Although December is in the rainy season, it will still be warm enough to enjoy one of Maui's world-famous beaches if you catch a sunny day.
Due to climate patterns on the island, your best bet is to plan a beach trip on the Western coast of the island.
Whale Watching
The whale watching season in Maui begins in December.
If you are looking for guidance in your whale-watching venture, cruises and guided kayaking tours are available throughout the island.
Having said that, you may be able to spot a whale from shore with a pair of binoculars. Bring a book to help you understand what you are seeing.
